Hi Planet and sumsum00,

According to medical advice, one should travel in second trimester, which is around 3 months before due date. Travel within last month is strongly discouraged. It will be too irresponsible to the baby. Especially, sumsum00 is new to Canada - there are a lot medical tests to perform before hospital admits you to be a potential patient. Let's alone you need to find an O&G first - who normally requires referral from a family doctor.

For living, we spend C$1800 a month for a short-term flat rental (not room rental) because I was not visiting alone. You can contact Mr Ngan at (604) 889 8122 who has short-term room rental.

Hi Planet,

Thanks for comforting... actually, I am full of gratitude that we can safely fly back to Hong Kong. It is very poor to have family separated in Hong Kong and Canada. That's why we are not considering moving to Canada too soon. Probably after 15 yrs later.. at that time, we shall have finished our flat mortgage.

If your hubby will be coming soon and money is not a concern, of course you should rent a house. Renting a house with fully furnished costs about C$1500-C$2000 depending which areas you're looking for. I would suggest you to choose Vancouver coz it is more convenient via public transport.

In your earlier msg, you said you have medical insurance to cover your hospitalization, please double check if it can be used in your case.

The insurance i just buy new, they say can be cover ,but i still not understand can be use when i go canada..

Thank you for your kind assistance. At this moment, I have no idea where I'll live. My sister lives in Conquitlam, may be I'll live near with her is better. How about Maple Ridge? Is it good for living and studying? The main factors for me to choose the school for my son must good and not many chinese.

Hi SumSum00,

If I were u, I'll...
1. find a person can trust to take care your shop immediately, cos this person need sometime to catch up. Don't wait until Jan too danger..la, cos the air pressure change, especially long haul flight, I'm afriad that the baby will born inflight ar!!! the baby is already to born after 35..6 weeks ga!!!
2. keep all your maternity examination results, if not u have do it again in Canada, it cost extra $$.
3. Decide where u r going to stay, search the place to stay, then find the maternity doctor around the place that u stay from the yellow page. ca, call the clinic up to ask them whether they still receive new patient, tell them that u r private pay and not cover by MSP, cos some of the doctor they r too full.
Better to find the clinic near ur place or can get there easy(taxi here is not cheap).
4.After u find the clinic, ask doctor what kind of exam they need, if u don't have those kind of result, do it in hk before ur go, since u don't know the place that much, it is quite difficult for u to search the place to do the test w/ bigggg bamp, and also the weather is quite cold around Jan.(save time & $$)
5. I think u better double check w/ yr agent, cos most of the insurance is not cover anything related maternity.

同意PLANET和LITTLE_STAR, 我都係同一家黎, 但係都覺得好淒涼. nicole每一日都叫返香港. 依家返到香港, 問佢去唔去加拿大, 佢話唔鐘意加拿大, 唔去.

我地已經係暑假黎, 可以四圍走. 如果冬天黎, 仲慘. 我夏天同冬天都知有幾慘. 因為我對仔女一個夏天出世, 一個冬天出世嘛.

仲有題外話一句, 我唔知你保險保咩, 但係, 就算個保險真係國際性, 真係包大肚, 但如果你係大左肚先買既話, 一定係唔包, 呢條係不變定律. 你話過你係新買既, 我估你係大左肚先買. (你開店的, 俾你做保險公司都唔會做餂本生意). 而且, 保險公司買既保險, 係你要現兜兜俾左出去, 然後先claim番. 你要預左筆現金先. 萬一佢reject你既claim, 到時你就失預算.
