I struggled for a while to get a pair of GIA raw stones 0.5 carat x 2 @HK$23,XXX (setting around $1,000-1,200) or to spend a half price less to get on a pair of non-GIA stones with total weight of .90 carat.
Eventually I bought the non-GIA earrings. Clarity "VS" definitely they are because I used my own "14x" magnifier to check the clarity, very clean, only minor feather on table side. The color "F" is subject to the shop owner's quote, but I compared with other GIA similar color stones, my stones are quite close to that.
One of JMs comment is correct. If the market price could be as low as HK$25,000 (from the jewel fair), it doesn't mean she can sell them to any shop at that px. You may counter offer your friend a bit lower if you want to score GIA earrings @.5 carat, because the 3 Ex None standard is guaranteed.
