Hi BS and KL,

They are claimed to be new, according to the seller. I have not received the books yet. So, not exactly know the quality. Hope I can receive them. Fingers crossed.

I can find just 2 handbooks ja, from two separate seller. I cannot locate the other 2 yet.

They are from UK ebay.

I found Star Wars (Clone Wars) magazine in Dywoks, $35@.

As a tactic, might as well tell piglet's twin that there are NO junior novels, only chapter books, so if he wants to read better read on to chapter books. :lol

And there are Star Wars novels, thicker than the usual Geronimo Stilton etc chapter books. Scholastic.

HS is actually science for boys, in a rather shocking way. With lots of exaggerated language which appeal to boys. The Handbooks are not really handbooks, but rather simplified version of the chaper books.

eg mould = fungi, and mould on walls eat the walls, totally eaten after n years. So they appeal to piglet who absorbs some sc knowledge in a funny way.

Today, I went to Comm Prexx. I managed to buy the following book for "piglet twin little brother".

BTW, Do you mean this Star War Series by Scholastic? Does the "piglet twin big brother" like it?

Is it available in Hong Kong bookstores? Not found in Comm Prexx or Popular wo...

I think the HS handbooks may not be the most interesting. HS experiment kits may be even more interesting. I can find them in ebay. However, the seller may not willing to ship to Hong Kong. Even if it is willing to do so, the shipping cost will be HUGE!!

Yes, the 1st one I think is like Readers Level 3 or 4 type of books.

The other one = the novels I referred to.
I've seen them around in Pg1.
But quite expensive.
If you have access to Sch Bk Club, much cheaper.

You found HS experiment kit ?
If you buy pls get 1 set@ for me too !!
Piglet is now reading "Deadly Disease" (one of the HS chapter books), and enjoying it - laughs a lot !!

And there are HS Annuals / HHistory Annuals.
I got 2 from 3-luen last time it was on sale, but only less 15% ja. The HS Handbooks I got from Popular (Whampoa), less 20%.
Only a few copies of Handbooks, more chapter books.
Prefer to buy from Popular in Sing - more choice.
I didn't think it worthwhile to buy HS Sticker Books or the Puzzles. (and the other Horrible xx ones also)

Quite interesting stuff too, just don't know how much it will be.
In Sing, each mag = S$5.95, comes with a little "gift", eg experiment dish for growing fungi.

I saw used HS magazines in eBay. Sellers are not willing to ship to Hong Kong. One of the sellers reply to me it will cost 60 pounds to ship 33 used issues (some of the Q&A, puzzles might have been scribbled, etc) to Hong Kong and shipping time is 1 month wo

Because of the shipping cost, forget it la..

But do you know that it costs just 1.99 pound/new issue in UK? Unluckily, there is no worldwide subscription like NG Kids.

Remember the HS Magazine I bought from Sing and had extra copies ==> you each bought 1 ?

There has beena warning on the "free gift" coming with that issue of the magazine, pls take a look, and throw the dish away.

Piglet read that mag already, but was not interested in doing the experiment. So didn't use the dish, still in original wrapping, somewhere in my rubbish.

I just found a website in US selling old issues of HS Mag. They sell in sets. Set 1 contain first 20 issues, set 2 of another 20 issues and Set 3 recent 20 issues. Each set costs USD60. I am now checking with the website if they will ship to Hong Kong. I shall then update you.

For your comparison of costs :

The 10 HS books I bought cost 12.99 pounds sterling , forex was then 14.5, and shipping back to HK was ~30% book cost, ==> HK$245 for 10 books.

But these are sold in local bookshops at HK$85@.

Hi BS,

I got the reply this morning from www.horriblebooks.com. They would not ship the HS mag to Hong Kong. Here is the extract of their reply: -
"Too expensive and too much risk.
If you have an APO / Military address, it would be doable, but otherwise, the best bet is wait until you or a friend visits the US, and I can mail it to whatever US address."

Really can't expect better from some geographically narrow-minded ppl !!

1 alternative : ask seller how heavy it is, and see how much it would cost to ship to One.Now then DHL back. But must be $$$$$.
