it is so funny for the canadian people. Our building's chilling system is out of order, and just now, people from the mgt office drop by to our office to give us free bottle of water and drinks... :-P
we'll never have such thing back in HK...

It's not that dirty than you think. The rules are you don't touch the girl. It's like going to night club in HK. Back before we married, my gf (now wife) would go with me and we would discuss whose dance performer have a great body. Before she was pregnant, if my friend ask me to join them to TD, I would let her know where I go and when I will back. Most high class TD require dresscode. No jeans and gym shoes allow.

My wife have complete trust on me.

In fact, women goes to women's TD are much wilder than men. Men would just hold the beer and talk, women will jump to the stage and dance with ther male performer.

The last company I worked for, one of my co-worker is getting married. The manager decide to throw her (yep, female) a surprise party. The company hired a male exotic dancer and dress up as bell technician. He went to her cubicle and pretended he need to crawl down her desk to fix the phone line, next thing she noticed, he was fully naked (... well, except the cloth that cover the important part) and start dancing in front of her. We taped the whole thing and in the wedding day, we played it back in front of all her guests. The goom didn't upset, and after the playback, he said to his bride "Maybe I should dress up as hot-dog vendor tonight?"

does any of the IT Mom/Dad know what is Mapper? I'm using the system written by Mapper, and has no clue to nevigate the system. The manual I had in hand dated back in 1984, and some of the function not valid.... need help

Is it some sort of mapping tool (geographic) or the old antique MAPPER 1100 system? If so, Unisys fumbled this product long ago.

1984, that's when I thought everyone in the household should have a E.T. pet @ home.

Personally, I don't mind to go there to have a look - you never try , you never know.
just make sure he won't take it as a hobby. that's o.k. for me...

oscar, yes, it is the mapper 1100...does it mean, no one is using it nowadays?

Mapper 1100 was the first spreadsheet/report program written by UNIVAC back in 1968. (I think) Those who wrote that program, prob. they are all retired.

If you remember, back in March/April, there is chinese fellow who work in HP Canada, came back from hk/china. With his royalty mind, he disobey the qurantine advice and went back to work. The company immediately sent him back home but for some reason, he went back to the office again. This cause over 100 employees in HP putting to qurantine. The HP company decides to set a law suit to him. But from today's Toronto Star newspaper, looks like they don't have to sue him anymore. He passed away of SARS last Saturday.

An employee of Hewlett-Packard who broke quarantine to go to work despite showing symptoms of SARS has become one of the latest casualties of the disease.

The 62-year-old man, who died Saturday night, was a long-time employee at the company's information processing plant in Markham. He succumbed to the disease after a lengthy stay in hospital, becoming the city's 27th victim of SARS.

The man's illness has been linked to the original outbreak by health authorities who called for a total quarantine of the HP plant last month when they learned the man could have knowingly placed nearly 200 co-workers in danger.

Yesterday, the company confirmed one of its employees had died from SARS but refused to disclose the man's identity, citing privacy reasons. "It's about paying respect to someone who has passed away and his family, who are still grieving," said Rob Ireland, HP's director of corporate communications.

The man was ordered into isolation by health officials last March but broke quarantine to go to work between March 29 and April 1 potentially exposing co-workers to the virus.

As his symptoms grew worse, he was admitted to hospital with another HP employee who was also showing signs of SARS.

On April 8, public health authorities alerted HP that one of its employees was a "probable" victim of the disease" and another was a "suspected" case.

HP became the first company in Canada to implement a mass quarantine of its employees on the same day. The company called its 102 employees at the Markham plant, revoked their security passes and locked them out of the building.

Ninety-five contract workers and visitors to the plant were also warned of possible exposure and placed in isolation.

Health authorities asked police to investigate whether charges could be laid against the man, but police were waiting for him to be released from hospital before proceeding. His death has effectively closed the case.

Yesterday, employees at the plant where the man worked were reluctant to talk about their co-worker's death.

"We're really not allowed to talk to anyone about this," said one worker on his way to lunch. "Everyone is still pretty shaken up about having to go under quarantine. Now we're grieving a friend's death," he said.
