My friend's case - Her father bought her a flat (fully paid) as wedding present. When she divorced, the cheap cheap ex asked for his share and got it (in court). So better check with your lawyer friend if this is the case in HK.
I think you should start to think about divorce and being a single mother. Not that I encourage it, but prepare yourself in advance. When the time comes, it won't catch you off-handed.
My divorced friend's son (6 yr old) once told her that now life was better because mum and dad didn't hate each other anymore (the parents actually didn't row in front of the child but he sensed it). Children are very sensitive and might not show their feelings. My son, during one counselling session, cried and told me that he worried that we would get divorced and brother and sister would be sent away to different foster families. Do you really want the children to grow up feeling insecure? Better to do it when the children are small, so they are not forced to take side. A happy family means good parents in harmony, your husband has no role model of a good husband to his children.
