yes, I think it may be common for the chinese to have the same name - Chan Tai Man... but chinese characters all diff...

I saw from the TV saying the HWY 407 charge a person twice for the transporter because they are of same name..
Also, read from the magazine saying one Mainland chinese woman being caught by the RCMP becasue some one with the same name of her killed the boyfriend in States.... and FBI get the RCMP for assistance... so this chinese lady being caught ...

Doggie,

This happen across any culture. Just like going to Little Italy and shout "Hey, Tony!", you will amaze how many turn their head (or try in A.R. construction site), or in UK, there are so many resident named "John Smith".

My wife and I had discussed this topic during her pregnancy. Too common names may lead to this problem. (e.g. At least 6 people I know off my head named Michael Chan)

yes, having common name is sometime troublecome. Before, I thought that is good to have all sibling with similar name. After my credit file has been messed up with my sister (Our first names are similar, SIN is 1 digit different), I told myself: maybe not a good idea to have similar name for the children. If one get into trouble, it may affect the others... ha ha.

For my husband's case, he added his English name to his Chinese name. But actually his Chinese name is pretty common. ha ha.

Hello PoohPoohMaMa and other mammies,

Coz my family are in Calgary and my hubby's family are in Vancouver, they all decided not come back to HKG in Aug for the SARS problem. Therefore, I'll fly to Calgary to have BB born and probably stay for 2 more months afterwards lor! Then, I'll go back to HKG wz BB because my hubby's company is in HKG.

But I have left Calgary and worked in HKG for almost 6 years. So I needed to look for DR in Calgary urgently. Can any mammies in Calgary introduce a good DR for me? Thks a lot!

Yes I am looking forward for my trip (only for 1 day), it is just my boss was from Calgary and he told us to be careful. :-P
We might stop by Burnaby, BC to visit a vendor there, any one knows if it will be a relatively short drive to Vancouver Chinatown? I was hoping to sample the good chinese food there.

'TIME-TRAVELER' BUSTED FOR INSIDER TRADING
Wednesday March 19, 2003

By CHAD KULTGEN

NEW YORK -- Federal investigators have arrested an enigmatic Wall Street wiz on insider-trading charges -- and incredibly, he claims to be a time-traveler from the year 2256!

Sources at the Security and Exchange Commission confirm that 44-year-old Andrew Carlssin offered the bizarre explanation for his uncanny success in the stock market after being led off in handcuffs on January 28.

"We don't believe this guy's story -- he's either a lunatic or a pathological liar," says an SEC insider.

"But the fact is, with an initial investment of only $800, in two weeks' time he had a portfolio valued at over $350 million. Every trade he made capitalized on unexpected business developments, which simply can't be pure luck.

"The only way he could pull it off is with illegal inside information. He's going to sit in a jail cell on Rikers Island until he agrees to give up his sources."

The past year of nose-diving stock prices has left most investors crying in their beer. So when Carlssin made a flurry of 126 high-risk trades and came out the winner every time, it raised the eyebrows of Wall Street watchdogs.

"If a company's stock rose due to a merger or technological breakthrough that was supposed to be secret, Mr. Carlssin somehow knew about it in advance," says the SEC source close to the hush-hush, ongoing investigation.

When investigators hauled Carlssin in for questioning, they got more than they bargained for: A mind-boggling four-hour confession.

Carlssin declared that he had traveled back in time from over 200 years in the future, when it is common knowledge that our era experienced one of the worst stock plunges in history. Yet anyone armed with knowledge of the handful of stocks destined to go through the roof could make a fortune.

"It was just too tempting to resist," Carlssin allegedly said in his videotaped confession. "I had planned to make it look natural, you know, lose a little here and there so it doesn't look too perfect. But I just got caught in the moment."

In a bid for leniency, Carlssin has reportedly offered to divulge "historical facts" such as the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden and a cure for AIDS.

All he wants is to be allowed to return to the future in his "time craft."

However, he refuses to reveal the location of the machine or discuss how it works, supposedly out of fear the technology could "fall into the wrong hands."

Officials are quite confident the "time-traveler's" claims are bogus. Yet the SEC source admits, "No one can find any record of any Andrew Carlssin existing anywhere before December 2002."

Last time I saw Jim Carrey movie was Truman Show. The problem is that's the last time my wife & I watched Jim Carrey's movie together. She hates him.

Oh well, there is always DVD rental.

Dumb and Dumber and Ace Venture were my favorite comedy movies from Jim Carrey. Just like Chow Sing Chee. No brainer req'd.

婦人被斬斷雙手

（本報多倫多專訊）昨天下午士嘉堡區傳出驚人斬手案，一名三十九歲的婦女懷疑因為鄰居報警投訴自己虐待兒童，狂性大發竟然用刀斬斷女鄰居的雙手。

案發現場位於士嘉堡芬治大道與維多利亞公園大道交接處，徹斯特李大道(CHESTER LE BLVD.)二三零號的一個鎮屋村內。根據CFTO電視台報道，一名四十歲的女人向兒童援助會報告有人虐待自己的孩子，不料竟然引來刀砍之禍。援助會人員在警察陪同到達現場，正要帶走四名兒童時，疑犯因為不滿該人多事，用開山刀或肉刀斬斷該名婦女左右手掌，受害人頭部亦中刀及斷腿。

受害人初時被送到附近的新寧醫院，後來轉送到市中心多倫多西區醫院接受手術，由醫生盡力試圖接駁雙手，目前情況嚴重。

疑犯被帶回四十二分局問話，暫時未被檢控，其四名子女則由兒童援助會職員帶走。為了保護兒童的私隱，警方不會公布與案有關人等的姓名。
