Thanks. Its good to know that you and other mothers are here to help. My baby has got eczema from 2 months. He is now 8.5 months old. His condition has not improved at all. I have changed milk power (using the non-sensitve ones), used the medically prescribed baby lotion and baby cream, used steroid when his condition is bad, used elidel when his condition is not that bad, etc. Seems that I have exhausted all means. Baby is still scratching himself a lot, even when the eczema is not there. I need to tie him up at night! I feel so worried and sad about this. He is hurting himself all the time. I saw the doctor last Sunday. Doctor said he looked fine. I said thats because I have used steroid (I have no choice because he is scratching very badly). Doctor simply said he did not think his condition was bad and did not recommend that I tied him up. Of course I know that I should not tie him up. I would rather tie myself up if that solves the problem. If I don't tie him up, he will make a lot of scracthes on himself. I have used gloves on him, but he picks his eyes (I suppose Eczema affects the skin around his eyes). So gloves are not soluction. I feel so desperate for any advice. Please would anyone help?? I have already spent HK$10,000 on doctors fees but no improvement- I am so worried that his condition will continue to worsen
Hi Garland,
I experienced the same condition as you.
My son Damon started to have eczema since he was 1 month old.
He was scatching his face quite a lot so we always put groves on and wrapped him to sleep.
Yes, it did affect his hand development as he is not as well in hand and eye coordination as other kids (same age).
However, it was the only choice that we could do as he was scatching so much.
I took him to see a lot of different doctors and specialists.
Not until I cried in front of them, they wouldnt give me steriod cream coz they thought he wasnt too serious (always said that).
I m lucky that we dont have to pay for any of the doctor visits and medication (government benefit).
I have learnt a lot and being encouraged here from all the moms!!
I m feeling much better and Damon's eczema is under control (still have leaps of red spots but not itchy).
I wish you all the best!!!!
Cheer up!!!
Dear all mamis,
After one week of using the balm that I ordered from Aussie, good results come out.
This balm is called David's Lavender facial rash balm for infants and children.
"A natural protective & soothing balm with aromatherapy soothing effect of lavender. Totally safe & non-toxic. Ideal for eczema, dribble rash, cracked lips & any dry skin problems that affect babies and children" introduction from the leaflet.
Ho Yin developed red spots and rashes all over his body since three weeks ago.
I started to use steriod for a week but no improvement.
I took him to see specialists for three times but no help.
I then received this cream last Wed and started to use it three times a day on his body and many many times on his face.
The red spots on his face went away in two days.
The rashes on his tummy went away in three days and the red spots were gone from yesterday.
I now apply only once after bath on his body and frequently on his face (coz bad mom (me) gave him something to drink and his eczema came back on his face).
I really like this balm as it is safe to use as often as I want and I can use it everywhere.
I ordered it from Aussie and it costs Aus$ 53 dollars for 500ml. I cant remember how much for 100ml and 200ml.
I use up quite a bit after 1 week so I will order some more later (it took two weeks from Aussie to NZ).
They do phone order and will send to everywhere in the world.
Please pm me if you want the details!! (I m not a sales) Hiiiii...
I wish all of you have a wonderful Chinese New Year!!
In the new year, all bbs will have perfect skin and all mamis will be more pretty!!!
My family (Ho Yin, my hubby and myself) are going back to HK in end of March (from 20/3 to 9/4).
I would love to meet you all!!!!
Thanks all. Perhaps Hoiyin Mom is correct that my baby's eczema has not been cured. I apply streroid very cautiously and once the red spots become less red I stopped using it (because of fear of its harmful effect). May be I should continue using it until it heals. Thanks. Or I should try the balm you mentioned.
Sorry should be tpy's suggestion. Thanks anyway for all your advice.
My baby is using Mustella S. cream, its bath lotion and its oil. He has changed to Omneo milk power from when he is 2 months old. After this, his condition has improved for 1 month. From baby is 3 months old onwards, he starts to have eczema again and until now no improvement.
