Have you consider B&B? It's much cheaper. Breakfast is included.

We will be driving to Ottawa this weekend. It's about 5 1/2 hours drive. Usually, we stopped in Kingston or Bellville for refresh (or change driver).

How's everyone long weekend? We drove to Mont. Tremblant for the weekend. I highly recommend ne1 who never been to that place should go at least once. We went to Ottawa first, took the parliment tour and head off to Mont. Tremblant. There were lots of activities you can do overthere. Hiking, Swimming in the lake, fishing, golfing, horse back riding (pony rides too). We stayed in one of the B&B (around $120/night include breakfast) We had a great time. On return, we went to Montreal (about 1 1/2 hr) for lunch prior coming home. It's about 7 hour drive from Toronto to Mont. Tremblant. Take the chinese tour if you don't like driving.

Doggie, Kanata is west of Ottawa. Take 401E -> Exit 721A to Hwy 416 -> Hwy 417W to Kanata. Toronto to Ottawa is about 4 1/2 hour drive.

thanks for the info, will take your route to Kanata in the labour day.

the photos in Tremblant is beautiful, do you have the info for the B&B? then I could keep for future use.

during the long weekend, we went to the county of Prince Edward - the provincial park -Sandbank... not realise that we could swim over there, otherwise should have bought the bathing suit along... the scene over there is beautiful especially for the lake on the mountain... do go there and have a look.

Oh, very nice trip. Was the weather nice in the east? I have been to Mont Tremblanc to ski. The resort there was nice.

It is so quiet here...

I have moved in to TH for a month la. So far so good except our lawn is getting worse. Need to work on it... killing weed and bugs...

It is pulling together like a home now... slowly but surely.

How is your sister? Her due date is near.

i got my citizenship yesterday. to my surprise, i have canadian flags around my working spot when i'm back to office this morning; then i got a little celebration (cutting cake) at lunch room just now.

Well, this will be your final year fixing your lawn with chemical. Because, starting next year, Ontario resident will not allow to use pesticide for their lawn. Yep! No more perfect lawn, start digging up buttercup by hand.

Oh no... we found out we have grubs in our lawn... I asked my husband to get the chemical ASAP... so terrible grubs!

apply canadian passport later lar, my bno and sar passport are still valid.

have you informed them for the address changed?

yes, we informed them for the address change. Also we paid Canada post to forward the letter to us until Oct. Hopefully he will receive the letter soon....

It is unfortunate that Ontario and Montreal were blackout due to Ohio power plant problem.

At 4:15pm, all of the sudden all lights/computers were down. We waited for awhile and messages start flowing in about NYC was also blackout. Next thing in everyone's mind was 'Not another 911??!!'.

I started to call my wife thru my cell but I am continuously getting system busy signal. And so, I start SMS thru my cell. Vala, she replied. She was on her way home.

Due to my job function, I had to stay until power back on line. At 5:30pm, I decided to get myself a hotdog. Well, there is a long lineup and by the time I got mine, buns were soldout so I had a hotdog without bun. At 10:30pm, the company got us the room from the Hilton hotel just across the street. For $180 with no lights (yep, no a/c, water), we stayed in the dark. At 11:00pm, the power restored but only in the Hilton, first thing I did was taking the shower.
The business district was back on power @ 5am. We cheered and preparing to power back up the computers. Things didn't turn out smoothly, at 1:30pm Friday, the business district was without power again. The power came back at 7:30pm in downtown and up til now (Sunday @ 3:30am)

Richmond Hill was up since Friday 5am and touch-wood, we didn't lost the power since.

Same interesting fact:

Most Torontian did a good job. There ain't much violence or break-in.
The gas station has a huge line-up.
Some variety store were selling $10 per AA battery, $25 for a candle
I can see stars from downtown toronto at night
Hotdog without bun tastes not bad afterall
Neighbors were more united during the blackout
More babies will be born nine months from now
Most resturants will offer fried seafood than steam
Everyone starts bbq in their backyard (I had mine for the last few days)
Fido works better than any cell provider due to overload
Everyone starts to realize how important to save energy while at the blackout and when power was back, everyone starts power on their a/c
Government keep telling us to turn off a/c when the power is back yet their municipal buildings were light up like a X'mas tree
Finger pointing not only happens at school, work. It can happen between two countries.
The American thinks Niagara-Mohawk region is part of Canada
Zero trade in Toronto Stock Exchange on Friday.
Most business building uses diesel fuel generator for electric backup.
My next paid cheque will have alot more than usual.

luckily, we have backup power at my condo. there's no need for me to walk up home by stairs, but i'm isolated at home, no communications with outside - no phone service too.

i went to bed at 8:30 p.m., and my girls said it was too early to go to sleep - but they fast asleep within 5 minutes.

unluckily that we have the blackout but regretfully it was not on 8/12, otherwise, i may have a chance to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower. on 8/14 night, i can see a lot of more stars in the sky then usual.

i only got the power back on 8/15 4:15 p.m., exactly 24 hours later.
