Have you tried StateFarm? Both my house and car are under their insurance plan. Although I work for insurance company, I look for pricing than quality. I know, this will give me in trouble. particular now proof in writing...

I graduated from an univeristy in Quebec. I used to live there, but many of friends here went to York.
I know many people still go to Scarborough Christian (on Steeles and Midland) and Columbia College in Hamilton for highschool cert. Doggie, you can try.
Oscar,
I have the home and car insurance from StateFarm too. They have an umbrella program and offer lower rate. But if you are U of T graduate, Mellon (??) offer a pretty cheap package too.
Everyone,
Today, my company annouced we are bought out by another mutual fund company. I may be out of job in 2 months. still shock about the news.
to make clear, my cousin had applied to migrate to Canada, so my nephew will be local student by the time he landed in Canada.
Heard about Christian college, and will try to info from it. Columbia is too far away, my cousins did not wish him to stay out of his sight...
since my nephew will finish his army services by Jan 2004, so still have time to shop around.
for the car insurance, we use ING, thou it is expensive to us (since we are new driver) but most of our friends said their price is reasonable... go and check it out.
poohma - sorry to hear that news, but who knows, there might always good opportunity around waiting for you..
Thanks for your comfort. Actually, I am not very sad, but still a little confuse about the future. I have been with this company for 5 years. Hope we will get a good severance package.
so I guess everything goes back to normal now heh?
the insurance company that i'm with it's meloche monnex, well it's more like an agent and it's under TD bank. I'm pretty sure they can offer almost the lowest rate, however, I think they target for university alumni.
I was with Co-op for 6 years until my sister had an car accident. She tried to get hold our agent and he was not around. She then called the toll-free and their claims staffs were not standing on our side at all. We were so mad at them and so, we talked to StatFarm agent. They told us the procedure and offer their help (eventhough I was not insure by them).
You could tried the CAA or the Bank (Royal Bank or CIBC). The bank, particular, offer lower rate. It's all come to deductable amount. The higher deductable fees (you have to pay up from your pocket), the lower the price. For example Chieftain Insurance, (1-877-439-2443) - the price is cheaper because the deductable fee is around $1,000. I should notify you that, Chieftain Insurance is the sister company of my work place. Just in case - 'conflict of interest'
PoohMa
Sorry to hear that. Quite often we have job opening in our company. Send me a personal PM if you need help.
That is quite true that StateFarm is pretty good in dealing with insurance claim. We had 2 accidents and they had no question ask and paid us very quick. That is why it is more expensive.
Oscar,
Thanks for your offer; appreciate it. If I need help, I will ask you.

Is it 2 or 3 years? According to Ontario Transportation FAQ, you can renew an expired driver's licence, without taking tests, within one year of the licence expiry date. If a driver's licence has been expired for more than one, but fewer than three years, a vision test is required. If your licence has been expired for over three years, you have to reapply under graduted test (Vision + G1 and G2)

I hate ironing too. so most of my clothes are wrinkle free.. :p
Oscar
are you still on night shift? if not, why act as couch potota? shouldn't you enjoy the last long weekend before the summer gone?
we will go to the ontario place for the water sliders (of course with the 3 monsters - my godsons/daughter) and get wet. I wish the weather is fine and hot... my first time to be there :-P

i will stay home for sunday and monday only. prepare their going to school stuff on one day, and take a good rest on the other day.
yes, they are in catholic school, just start to wear uniforms this year. each girl - 5 white tops/5 navy blue bottoms for the week. as you know, they are sent out to the playgrounds everyday, just like a mud duck after school, so must change clothes daily. then - poor me.
