thanks for the compliment - I don't think I help you a lot. For me, just get to know one more internet friend to chat to.. You know I feel bored too when I first come here - no one will help us...

Laichee - I did bring out computer over but not the monitor. for our case, no need to use the transformer... we did have the purchase invoice, listing out what software being loaded to the computer. got the sw license handy - in case they need to check for the priracy copy.

mushroom head - not sure where about the mississauga - from my home (markham) to there (square one) - will take at least an hour (drive on highway).

i know sometimes the customs are picky, and they might scan thru' your good to follows and might pick out some item to check if they are brand new and put taxes on it. (especially for those that could convert from 220V to 110V electrical appliances). but if you have all the purchase receipt (older than 6 months before your departure) then should be o.k. don't worry.

for me, after my shipment arrived, I still haven't find a permanment place to stay, so I ask the forwarder to put my shipment to storage (actually is forwarder's warehouse) and pay the monthly rental to avoid the headache where to put my stuff..

so far as I knew, if BB got the birth certificate issued by Canada, all you need is to apply the canadian passport for him/her and that's it. He/She could come back anytime he/she wants and he/she is a canadian citizien (by natural birth)

for us, (you) are the landed immigrant, we have the maple leaf card and need to be in Canada for those required period in order to become citizen.

. The things I need to ship are the photo albums , books, the things in kitchen .
I want to know that Is it worth to ship the bed frame and mattres .
It is because someone told me that the bed and mattress in Canada are expensive. Is it right?

depends on what kind of bed and mattress you bought.

I bought the bed frame from Ikea (so just the same price in HK - I did the price checking), and the mattress from the chinese furniture shop. so closed to HK price.

but if you got lots of space from your forwarder, then why not ship them over to save your $$. If you have kids bed (in HK - as normally will be 2.5 ft ro 3 ft wide), those will be too small when display in the bedroom here, (like the toy). and when they grow older, they will need another adult bed anyway... so it is up to you

for me, I only ship the book, photo albumn and the summer clothes (as i came in Winter). so we only do the min shipping (i.e. 100 cubic feet)

I never take any ESL, but saw those run by the library - they are the native speaker. Also from the local community seasonal program, they do have the ESL class, you could try those. Go to the library and ask them for more details.

fruit picking? i used to go to the Home depot to get the free catelog and see which farm is open for the pick up... not sure if they have such ready now. go and ask Home depot - call "pick-yourself booklet".
