It will take longer as u are sending 旅行支票..
it will take 3-5 days to send cash. so I will imagine it will take longer to send 旅行支票 as it take time to clear the fund..
I hope the money will arrive on time.
you need the money to buy a house in HK?
can u ask them to delay the payment for few days?

though in yr previous message that they send the 旅行支票 directly between the bank? (although I never know u can do that)
I think u better check with yr relative on what she had done...
if she did send the 旅行支票 via DHL or sth. I don;t think they will open it.. unless its check my custom (of which its unlikely for a cheque)
also of yr relative send via DHL, u should have receive it no more than 2 days wor....
how come the bank hold on to yr money??
anyway, if they haven't done anything to the 旅行支票, then better ask them back and send it yourself via DHL or sth.. with DHL, u should be able to recive it the next day(need to check with the company)
once u receive the 旅行支票 in HK then u should be able to bank in the money in yr mum's A/C.. but make sure that the 旅行支票 is in HK dollor not UK pounds.. since from what u mentioned before that yr mum didn't hold a pound A/C only HK dollar A/C?
if the 旅行支票 is in pounds not sure if u can directly bank in the 旅行支票.
alternatively, u can ask yr relative to cancel the 旅行支票 (believe that she can do it with the appropriate doc to prove she bought the 旅行支票 )
with the cash after cancel the 旅行支票, then she T/T the money directly into yr mum's A/C
for urgent T/T will take about 3days for the fund to be in yr A/C in HK..
