請問你知唔知而家多倫多係咪好難搵工作做. 我老公成日擔心去到搵唔到野做, 但又為左個仔讀書, 所以好矛盾.

depends on what job you are looking for and how much you are expecting.

we came at the bad timing - SARS - so my "lo" could not get a job in 2003 - people from HK (black list at that time) then afterward, he tried couples of job, but all said - no canadian experience. he did not want to do the sales job (he works as accountant before). so end up he got his early retirement and be the full time house man now....

Does your hubby feel boring? If you don't mind, may I know the age when he got his early retirement (pm me). I'm afraid my husband will have the same situation as yours. :-( , so we are still struggling on whether go or not go

age is never a secret to us.. my "lo" is now 48. going to be 49. when we came he is at 45 lor. we never thought about early retirement, but just due to the SARS. wrong timing, diff to get a job.
then we bought a house, so many things need to follow up, and nice to have him at home to deal with the builder/contractor. then... year and year passed, he get used to stay home and I am glad I don't need to rush home to prepare dinner etc. then that's our life - to shift role.

lucy is that we don't have any kid, so it is easy for us to adjust and no need to worry the financial, we just spent what we earned.

but if you have kids.. then will be diff story, no matter how low the job pay, you and your "lo" might still want to take it, as you have kids to raise.

not sure how to comment, but be honest, I could only said the education system here is much better than in HK, more free style, self initative, build one's mind- lead the kid to think....etc better than HK- spoon feed education.

一口氣睇曬咁多個pages.你們真好,我都要來報到,剛剛5月遞紙申請技術移民加拿大,移民公司話應約1.5-2年到會批,今年7月中,我會全家過多倫多住一個月,地點亦會在markhama,請問有沒有附近basement租住一個月,因我幫我阿仔和阿女報了個swimming course at Morgan Pool and Park, 11 Parkway Ave & George St., Markham 玩,日後我會多上這個chat, 請教各位加拿大的媽咪。

post office got the limitation to the box size and the weight, if you are shipping the photo albumn and the book (they are very heavy), then you will have to calculate before your did so.

i checked your address - is really east side.. but lot of chinese move to that area.

not sure if there is any basement to sublet for a month in that area, as most of the basement sublet is along the steeles.

Do you have any friends that they had shipped their piano to Canada?
I want to do that the condition of the piano will still be good or not ?

yes, just learnt from my friend's friend.. she shipped the piano over thru' another forwarder.

she said the condition is o.k - no broken leg

, no scratch

. but of course you'll prepare to get someone to re-tune the piano after the moving.

I and my husband are 3x and early 40. I think it is too early to retire and we want to stay here to earn more money to support our future life in Toronto. However, as you mentioned, we have a son and the education in HK is what a mess that we do not have confident that he will be happy here. That's why we are still struggling of go or not go.

if both of you got a decent paid job, yes, stay in hK to save up more $$ then your life here will be more comfortable and easy.

however, mind my asking how old is your boy? you will have to prepare what is his best age to come over to adopt to the new life. I personally will say not older than 10 ...

it is just my personal thought. per my understanding, kids have 2 tests in grade 3 and grade 6, where they determined if they could be sent to the "gifted" school.

but if you wait till they finished primary school (i.e. grade 6) they it might be diff for them to catch up the grade 7-8 before going to high school. (as they got spoon feed for so many year)

we do have chinese school here, and most of the chinese send their children to those school during weekend. Also, if you have chinese TV at home, they could pick up chinese very easily.

Even my god children (who were born here) as they watch chinese TV channel everynight (follow their parent's habbit). they speak/understand chinese but of course the written/reading is not that good.. but still o.k. lor

one of my friend -who's daughter come at age 3. keep studying chinese every weekend, now she is in grade 8, taking chinese history as one of her subject. so no bad...
