If all women are going to gossip and no point to bring him. Yes, if you know there is some other men, it is good but I still reluctant to take him as other mothers may feel uncomfortable about being speak Cantonese in front of foreigners. Or it is so hard to talk free if you have to switch in English. If it is family gathering, then he has no choice.
How about if he ask you to join his friends gathering? Will you attend and do you feel interest being with his friend and listen to all their jokes? I always put myself in his shoes and I understand how bore it is.
