Glad to know that we have exactly the same situation. My daughter also returned to HK when she’s 1 month. I like San Diego very much. Is your family in San Diego?

so she said Hayden B should be ready la..

I went out to Walmart over the weekend and bought a soft potty seat that goes on the regular potty. Hopefully Hayden B will not freak out when my mom tries to potty train him.

jaan: yes, like all said, don't worry much about the draft, I really doubt it is going to happen. Usually the military likes to deploy the people in the reserve first, like one of my bosses who is in the Navy Reserve. And last time in Vietnam War, the draft was a mess (if you like History) So I don't think the government is going to bother with it, unless US is in war with China or something.

helloruby: yes my husband went out to the range with his friend/coworker on Sat and then I cooked Paella for lunch. It was surprisingly good! I used mussles, shrimp, chicken and spanish sausage. and then on Sun, we went to golf shop to buy new golf shoes ($$$$$$$$$$$$$) for my husband. :-x

yv: don't be upset la :-P it will be nice if we can coordinate for a trip back to HK together...

Hi, US mommy, just curious, since most of the apartment in US are carpeted, how do you potty train your baby? How do you avoid your carpet get wet by urine? Will you train babies when they are older?

I think you shouldn't be too worry about potty training Hayden. Boys are usually take longer than girls, my nephew was completely potty train by three. It depends on that person, some take longer time and some take shorter time, if they are ready they are ready! It takes my oldest girl a bit longer than the twins, it probably because the twins saw their sister went to the potty by herself!

Maybe you should start Hayden with some training pants and start to taking him to the potty at the same time every day, like before and after naps , also in the morning.

欣彤 is a beautiful girl name! How about Yesmin or Jesmin, it sounded like 欣彤! I used an english name that is sounded similiar to their chinese name, incase they don't know any chinese, but they still know their chinese name!

Jaan,
I think there hasn't been a draft since the Vietnam War, unlike Singapore or Taiwan. You don't have to worry you boy being drafted!

Yes, my family was in San Diego before, but now they have moved to Orange County. They will come to HK next month for summer vacations. I'm waiting for their visit happily hehe!!

We just had a beautiful weekend, hope this coming weekend is as good as last week la, cuz I am planning to take my son to Sesame Place.

I like names that is special too but not weired though cuz some names you don't even how to pronouce it and there is no meaning of it. I have regret that I didn't give a middle name to my son when he was born so at least in this way, if he doesn't like his first name, he can use the middle name instead when he grow up. Do anyone has given the middle name to your kids?
When I started to potty trained my son, I let him wear the pull-ups first and after 3 weeks I let him wear the underwear, by that time, he will not get wet as often as the beginning. I have the carpet in the rooms only so it wasn't too bad.

I think start Hayden bb for the poop part first if he only has the regular schedule for that now. Pee pee part, I think he is way to young for that, I don't think he can able to tell you by saying it nor he didn't even walk yet how can he indicate you????

I only get my son the potty seat too, don't want to clean up the "shXt "heheheeheh

you are right, boys are slower than girls cuz there are 2 transitions for them ma, standing up for pee and sitting down for poop, heheehe. :-P :-P

Everyone:
My son is 95% completed for the potty trained now, only the poop part I need to work a little harder but just once a while, so it isn't too bad. I am so happy , is so convienent to take him out now, don't have to find the place to change his diaper. But my son loves to pee on the grass so whenever he sees the grass, he will tell me he wants to pee there.

Dear all US Mom/Dad

My family is planning to take the cruise this coming X'mas, departing from LA, Long Beach. (The port terminal is next to Queen Mary) Since this is my first time going to LA (transit many times in LAX but never been outside of the airport), would you suggest any hotel and area my family should be staying. The dates is between Dec 25 - 28. I will probably rent a van while I am in LA. Any interesting site I should visit? Or are there any local tour (english/cantonese/mandarin speaking) that I can join? Budget wise around $80 - $120 US/night. There will be seniors and infant as well.

Great appreciate on any feedback.

My husband like to use their Chinese name as their middle name. He is very 'Chinese'. We use an English name as their first name for their convenient when they go back to live in USA.

I like Tiffany too, it's a beautiful name.

Ha, ha, in Hong Kong, for boys, when we go out during the potty train period, we bring a plastic cup with us, since he is not tall enough to pee in toilet bowl, he may also not fast enough to pee in toilet.
