[INTERVIEW] 141025 BEAST “Actually there were talks to make ‘On Snowy Days…”
BEAST who released their special mini-album “Time” on the 20th made their first broadcast comeback on Music Bank that was aired on the 24th.
We met the BEAST members in the waiting room before their stage. Whether it was because it was late autumn, or because it was their second album in the same year, the members showed a side that was more mellow and tranquil as compared to Good Luck.
Immediately after the release of the album, they lined up on music charts, showing off the unchanging popularity. BEAST said “To be honest, this album round, none of the members are too particular about the charts. Because it’s a special album, it’s an album that has strong emphasis on being a gift for the fans. It is not one that has an attachment to rankings,” showing their modesty.
Yang Yoseob added “Of course (if the fans) show it lots of love, there is nothing wrong (with it being 1st). Of course it feels good, we’re thankful (to people) for liking it” expressing his gratitude.
Apart from this comeback and song, another topic that brought attention would be the re-entry of an old song into the charts. Whenever it rains, ‘On Rainy Days’ that was released in May 2011 would rise on the charts.
Like the representative song during rainy weather “On Rainy Days”, we asked jokingly if there were no plans to release a song for winter “On Snowy Days”. Unexpectedly, BEAST replied “There was once when the topic came up.”
Son Dongwoon said “There was once when the company said “Let’s do a song for “On Snowy Days” but if we do that, we were afraid that ‘On Rainy Days’ will lose its meaning so we didn’t push through with it”.
Although BEAST did become more composed and matured, they were uniquely jovial and humorous. Yang Yoseob who had a wrist brace on said “I got hurt while working out alone. There is no difficulty in dancing on stage though.” Yoon Doojoon added “He just wanted to show off the wrist brace” evoking laughter.
While talking about Son Dongwoon’s appearance on MBC Radio Star, he said “I was in tenth place for search rankings but the singer of song I sang, Ken Hirai, was in first place. I’m positively thinking that I’m letting more people in Korea know about him” causing laughter with his wrong thinking.
Although we talked about various things, in the end BEAST’s final topic would always be the ‘fans’. Lee Kikwang said “It feels like we’re family with the fans since we’ve been together for so long. It feels even more so whenever we have a concert and they don’t forget us and fill up the seats fully” revealing his fondness.
Jang Hyunseung added while lighting up “Personally, the one thing I remember the most is that we had a fan from debut who is now married. Of course we have aunt fans who were already married since our debut times but the feeling is different. I congratulated her but I didn’t really know what to say. I think I need to prepare (for more) in the future”.
