明年需要去溫哥華參加弟弟婚禮, 因自己的兩個孩子是自閉症, 需帶外傭幫忙照顧, 不知有沒有人替外傭申請去加拿大旅遊的簽證, 難不難?
但願媽媽的眼淚能灌溉寶寶, 讓寶寶茁壯地成長

Hi,

I went to Canada with my family together with my helper to take care my children. But, if I can choose again, I will
not bring her to go.
We spent couple of weeks in Toronto to visit our relatives and then travel to Ottawa, Quebec and Montreal. The last stop of the trip is Vancouver. At the last midnight, when I was taking shower, she took back her own passport, lugguage and stole some CAD $$ to go away. After I finished my bath and found this happened, I checked hotel's CCTV and saw her went away... It's so terrible !
She was so far a responsible person and quite hard working. And we treated her just like a member of family. She has many times went travel with us but only happen this in Canada. Some bodies including agency told me that USA and Canada is the dream place of Filipino. 10 helpers go there and 9 of them will choose to stay there.
The procedure to apply visa for them is not complicated. And most probably will be ok. But think again before apply for them. In case they has accident after they went away, we will be the one to responsible for it because we are the employer.

I can't believe that thing happened! This helper is so bad. And I am sorry about your lost.

Hope you don't mind my asking. I want to know what happened next. Did you call the local police to report a lost person? Or call HK immigration or agent? I just want to know what we can do if this kind of things happened. Thanks for sharing.

Hi mammamiae,

After we checked the CCTV of the hotel and confirmed she went away intentionally ( at least not catched by somebody ), I called back to HK ageny, my uncle ( who work in HK imm dept ) and my sister-in-law ( she's a lawyer ). All of us just worry about if she has accident after she went away or she commit illegal activities... Of course all my family except my sons cannot sleep at that night. Finally, we do the followings to protect ourselves:-
1. report to Canadian police and open a file about this case ( get file number from police )
2. pass the file number from Canadian police to Canadian imm dept and report the case also.
3. After I come back to HK, I write a letter to imm dept to state that the contract between the helper & me was terminated immediately due to her mis-conduct ( stole money and left her responsibility ) and quoted the canadian police file number to them.
4. cc letter copy to HK labour dept ( foreign labour section ) and Canadian consulate in HK ( visa section )

After doing these, I have no more legal duties to her anymore and I can find another helper freely afterward.

In conclusion, don't bring helpers to western countries. It's very dangerous.

Hi psmama,

Thank you very much for your sharing! In fact, some other BK mummies also pm me and alert me not to bring helpers to Canada.

It seems that we can't go to Vancouver then, as we may not be able to manage our two autistic kids. That's really a pity!
