Thank you for your online feedback regarding the temperature levels in Hong Kong Station and Central Station.
First of all, we would like to apologise if you find that our air-conditioning does not meet your expectations.
In order to provide a comfortable travelling environment for our passengers, the air-conditioning temperature in stations and trains is controlled in such a way as to be progressive from the outdoor ambient temperature to the train temperature. Except on very hot days, the temperature in the concourse is pre-set by the environmental control system at or below 29°C, and on the platforms at or below 27°C. These temperature settings aim to provide passengers with a progressively comfortable and pleasant travelling environment as they enter the station from the outside environment.
However, we do understand that different passengers have different requirements so we try to maintain the temperature at a level that is suitable for the majority of our passengers and which meets our agreement with the Government to provide and maintain a comfortable passenger environment.
Please be assured that we will continue to monitor the temperature level in the station to ensure that suitable levels are maintained and that this is supported by routine checking and maintenance work on the air-conditioning systems.
Thank you for taking the time to write to us and for supporting the MTR.
