I will travel with my kids this summer and will stop over in Vancouver for 8 hours. Is the international airport far from town centre? Do you think that I have enough time to go for some last minute shopping?

The vancouver airport is about 45 min to 1 hour by shuttle bus from Downtown. However, you can go to Richmond (10-15 min drive from the airport) to do some shopping.

I don't think there is any shuttle bus that go to any shopping centre in Richmond, however, you can take a taxi may more easier in airport. The biggest shopping centre in Richmond is Richmond Centre. I think the fare is around CA$10-15.

Just for your information, Richmond is very similar to HK and most of the shops are selling stuff from HK, so you may feel disappointed to come all the way to see the same shoppoing mall.
I suggest you to take the No. 98 bus as it is circular bus and it via Richmond and go to downtown. You can stop at Waterfront and have a look of our new convention centre and walking around Yaletown to see if you can buy some souvenir. Get a Starbuck coffee and seat there to enjoy the rest of your day there.
