To me no. I only have to clean up the surface everyday simply take all the rack out and clean it with wet and dry towel.
The advantages are:
1) better apprance
2) easy to clean (for me) at least you do not have to clean up gaps between and under the stove
In terms of the flame you could simply take a look at the specification to check the gas out-put.
The one that I am using include a removable stand for traditional Chinese wok stand.
You don't have to get it from town gas because their products are more expensive as compared to other shop such InXXXXX and there are a lot more options too. Make sure space between each head has enough space for you to place 3 pots and a wok at the same time, otherwise it is meaningless to have a stove with 3-4 heads. The one that I am using even has a section in the middle for me to place extra pots too.
Mine is a Philco. There is a Gilman show room in central. The show room is on the 2/F at the same building of "Ling Kee" bookstore next the Hang Sang Main Office near central market, see below appended for more showroom info.

I do not want to comment the other brand but would strongly recommend you to visit that show room (they carry different brands) to take a look for other brands.
