早於2005年,幾位來自美國東卡羅萊納大學的學者,已發表文章〈Radioprotective potential of Ginseng〉,利用老鼠而研究出人蔘中所含的「人蔘皂」(Ginsenosides),確實有助對抗惡性細胞,更認為此舉可以協助癌症病人在接受傳統電療後,大大減輕其所受的輻射損害(該文章於2005年由Oxford University Press出版)。
另一篇由韓國與俄國學者合作,於2005年發表的報告〈Antimutagenic effect of polysaccharide ginsan extracted from Panax ginseng〉,指出人蔘中的「多醣成份」,對曾接受輻射的老鼠有修復機能的作用,且通過酵素測試後,證實其成份「人蔘皂」更可保護DNA免受輻射對其斷裂因子的損害。(見於2006年《Food and Chemical Toxicology》)
2007年,韓國濟洲國立大學一批科學家以老鼠作實驗對象,先將人蔘皂素(APG)注入首批老鼠的骨髓,再將之接受高劑量輻射的照射;而另一批則先接受輻射照射,隨後才注射APG。研究結果發現,預先被注射APG的實驗老鼠,其骨髓細胞的繁殖和生長速度,比另一批更顯活躍;而先服用APG的老鼠,其骨髓細胞及IL-12 (維持人體免疫力的激素) 的數量,亦比沒預先服用的為多。(研究結果已於2007年科研權威雜誌《Journal of Veterinary Science》中刊登)
