No one knows the exact time of ovulation, u can only predict when u will O and thus estimate the most fertile period
The biphasic pattern of female BBT chart is caused by hormones. In follicular phase, estrogen, the cool hormone, reaches maximum before LH surge, this is why BBT may drop before ovulation. If u look at some related charts, BBT may not be the lowest on the day of ovulation.
And it takes time for the LH to be metabolized and found in urine.... So, the actual time of LH surge is earlier than the time you found red d positive....
Therefore, your BBT and red d aren't contradictory at all (if what I said above is true). Using OPK like red d or CB is the most scientific and accurate method available in home self test, but it only predicts ovulation, 3 consecutive elevated BBT after 6 lower BBT basically confirms ovulation.
