Although you can start from 4 months, 6 months is the recommendation. There are many benefits starting at 6 months including better digestive system, allergies, etc. I think babies should only start solids earlier if breastmilk alone is not sufficient for growth.
In my case, my baby is almost 5 and a half months. I was going to wait till 6 months. But he has gained very little weight over the last 5 weeks, so I'll introduce rice cereal from tomorrw (wait till weekend so Daddy can see him eat first time).
After baby rice, you can introduce mashed potato, pumpkin, carrot, apple, bear, etc.... but one food at a time to check for allergies.

Hi there,
I was told that I can give solid to my baby from 4 months. What kind of solid did / do you give your baby when it is 4 months old?
I found myself has little milk recently. I can only express about 2 oz each time.....
Cheers,
