Hong Kong people are really lovely. One may criticise that HK people are keen in making money and yet they are always generous in giving a helping hands to those in need.
When I watch the news just now, I saw the hawkers and those housewives at the wet market. What they said and what they did really impressed me.
One hawker said "Although our business are not very good but compare with those who suffered in the southarea, we are already lucky". Another lady donated one thousand and five hundred dollars buying some vegetables. She said that was not much and yet this was all she can contribute.
I must give my salute to those who are not rich at all but are willing to make a donation. HK is proud of you!
Thanks for bringing this piece of article to us and let us has a deeper thought of the incident and explore ways to give a helping hand.
Just now I watched TV and saw Anson Chan spoke on behalf of Unicef. Yes, the biggest group of victims in this incident is the children. She said the Unicef immediately sent some toys to the children and built some temporary schools for them such that the pain of the children could relief a bit and redirect their concentration. The group will also provide psycological support to the children.
We may perhaps also contact World Vision if we want a more long term support to the children like child sponsorship.
When my son came back from school today, as usual I asked him how was his school. His answer was all his schoolmates "齊晒". I was shocked by his answer which I had not expected. I think the tsunami has brought about some frustations (though maybe to different extent) to everyone including my 5 years old boy.
