My husband and I are Canadian citizen and husband got a job offer to work in Norwood, Ma. Just want to know which town is good to live in terms on living environment, population of race, school, shopping and restaurant?
I need to rent a 1 bedroom apartment where there is not feel like suburb. I did some research, and some people suggest Dedham, Foxboro, Canton, Sharon, Stoughton and West Roxbury. Any lady actually live in any of the above town or can idea on how is the living there? Thanks in advanced.
My husband is not yet sure about what and how much expense to cover because still bargaining.
Anyway, we are planing to stay there about 2- 3 years and then will come back to Toronto, or go to San Francisco for another position that might be available later.
Not yet, but plan to have baby this year or next year. So school is not the priority?
I think it takes 20 mins to work from train station in Norwood and Office is around
River Ridge Dr, Norwood, MA.
We must drive and we will share one car at this moment. I will not work there. And his older sister lives about 2 to 2.5 hrs away, around Connecticut area. No need to be close to her at all.
His office location is in Norwood, Ma and I think no need to live in Boston downtown. Coz the office is in Norwood area, preferably to drive within 25 mins in traffic from home to office. We are willing to pay $1800 to 2200 per month for 1 bedroom apartment. I need to have washing machine and dryer in my unit and best to have elevator.
Most importantly, the area around the apartment need to be safe and less criminal activity. 10 -15 mins drive to groceries stores is preferable.
I did some research and I am deciding to rent one of the following apartments.:
Sharon, Ma
Avalon Sharon, 2500 Avalon Dr, Sharon, MA
Dedham
Avalon Station 250
250 Station Cir Dedham, MA 02026
Norwood
Norwood Gardens
105 Hampden Dr Norwood, MA 02062
Norwest Woods
1 Norwest Dr Norwood, MA 02062
Stoughton
Coppermill Park Apartment
3101 Stagecoach Rd, Stoughton, MA
Randolph
Avalon Blue Hills
One Avalon Drive, Randolph, MA 02368
Canton
Avalon Canton at Blue Hills
9 Bay Dr, Canton, MA 02021
Please give me some advice of the pros and cons. Can u suggest any other apartment? Thanks in advance.
I also prefer to live in Dedham Avalon Station 250 or Sharon Avalon. Avalon station 250 is the # 1 choice on my list because of the shops around it.
One question: are those area safe? Low crime rate or not? What kind of ppl live there most? White, black, Chinese, India....?
Do u know if the traffic is bad or not in the morning in highway from Dedham to Norwood area? And from Sharon Avalon to Norwood area? I am worry it will have traffic jam like inToronto... like..distance 15 mins normally drive become 30 min, or 30 mins become 1 hour+.
I think we will go to Boston around Mid May to June, hopefully can meet up some of you when I am there. Haha...
Don't worry, MA crime is no where near those you heard/read from the news. And Dedham Avalon is one of those mid to high income apartment, plus the mall next door is a high end mall, Legacy Place.I once saw a Maybach park there, many luxury cars park there too. I
Traffic is fine since you are going a different direction than the morning traffic. If his hour are flex, he can be at the office in 10 min, but expect 20min in case of some traffic.
Thanks for ur reply. So i think Avalon station 250 is definitely the best choice, just hope they have some apartment units available to rent in June.
What about the traffic from Avalon Sharon to Norwood area? Is it also around 10 mins? Or need more because of the direction?
How is the traffic in winter for Boston?
And weather? Coz Toronto is really cold specially this year, highest around -15 to 20 meaning actually -20 to -30 with wind in the winter. I wonder if the weather in Boston is similar to Toronto.
P.S. I have one stupid q is...Will salt be use as de-icer for the winter road treatment in MA? Coz I heard someone said their state only use sand create traction for snowing day in winter...

一話落大雪(6" or above)我同我c6公司d人絕大部分work from home。MA沙同鹽都有用,不過環保區有機會係reduced salt zone.
Thanks for u reply. ^^
日頭點都有10度\" is it in degrees Fahrenheit (°F) or Celsius (°C) ?
I read some review saying most of the population is Irish and Jews and racial discrimination is common in Sharon?
And where I can find Chinese groceries store? I found one in google called Kam Man Marketplace - Quincy, MA and say it is big, true? Seems like a lot of chinese ppl live in Quincy, MA.
don't expect you will find equally good Chinese grocery or restaurant in MA, it mostly mainland china and Vietnamese ppl operate and many Chinese fake goods.
Yes there a big Kam Man supermarket, don't put your expectation high....
forget about Sharon, it's middle of no where, go for Dedham... they have many availability....
I just hope there will be apartment unit available @ Avalon Station 250 in Dedham when I move to Boston in May or June. Feel stressed once I think of leaving Toronto...anyway, thx for your advice.
Sharon, ...
Thanks for your info.
Of course I don\'t mind to try anything new from a new place...haha..
A must is to know where to get Chinese and Korean sauces, and Chinese vegetable, other than that any groceries store is fine.
I love traveling and trying new things. But moving in new country is quite different, especially when I am quite enjoying my life in Toronto because I have a comfortable home with a job and the salary to spend on whatever I want. Maybe I am selfish but I hate the feeling on financially depending on my husband, even he can give me the same amount of money to spend. ( I am not legal to work because I will just come with my husband who have TN status to work in US. )
Still have lots of things to deal with, such as the house and car and family we left behind in Toronto. Feeling is much different than the first day I left Hong Kong for studying in Canada. Maybe because that time I was just a teenager and never know what to worry as long as my parent is willing to pay for my expense. Haha...
However, I don\'t think apply the TN status because my career is not the Profession on the NAFTA list, meaning not qualify to apply. And I am not qualify in H1 either, coz what I have is just a college diploma, not a bachelor\'s or higher degree in university as they required.
Anyway, I am thinking maybe can go to university in Boston haha....or take some course at least to kill the time.
you like cooking? or you have any hobbies or dreams you wanna fulfill when you where young? this is a good time to accomplish something... before the kid arrive...
