It was the first time I employed a miad last year. She worked for me for 1 year and 3 months, her performance was ok. It was happened in Feb this year. My miad told me that her daughter fell down from the staircase and was seriously hurt and need to see doctor but PHILI HELATH(insurance) does not has her update employment information, she need to have a letter written from me to prove she was now working in HK for me. I did ask the advise from my agent, to see if I should gave her that letter and ask them about did they heard about PHILI HEALTH. The agent told me that you may gave her the letter as they heard about the PHILI HEALTH before. I also check thru the internet and can find the said association which provide medical insurance to domestic helpers.
After I gave her the letter, she resigned on March and told me she applied a job in Canada. At first I ask her, does the agent knows about that. She said the agent don't know. However on last day, we asked her again, she said Yes, it was our agent help her to find a job in Canda.
We were so angry about the agent, but when we know about the truth, we have already paid(a few hundred as document fee) and request the agent to find us another maid and signed a contract with them, if we stop the employment we need to pay penality.
When the 2nd maid come(few weeks ago), and on the day they bring the maid to our house, they call us and ask us to wirte 3 cheque for the maid's comming 3 month's wages. I refused and told them don't bring the maid up if you insist to have those 3 cheques. Then they said ok we don't need the cheques but you need to deposit her salary to her Heng Seng account(they gave us her account number but our maid said she hasn't opened any account yet). When they bring the maid to our home, the staff only give us her medical report without the employment contract, and said he forgot to bring. It's impossible!! This is the most important document. My husband was mad and so disappoint to the agent and ask them to bring the maid back, we won't let her stay if you don't give us the employment contract today. Then we ask the maid to stay in the lobby and wait the staff to come back and bring the contract.
The 2nd maid is now working for us now(2 weeks only) and both my husband and I think that we'll terminate that maid if the agent 'play' again. We don't want to hire someone we won't trust.
Normally, no need lor... unless your maid leaving (1) you can send a letter to immigration to inform them your maid will leave on which date.... (2) reference letter to your maid (optional)......
my understanding ja... may be I'm wrong ga....
I just check the information for security je... as my maid give me one month notice will leave 7 july then I refused to sign the resignation letter to her... so after two days.. she asked me again and I refused again..so she cry and she said will wait till end of July wor... but I'm still worry she will change her mind...
