same in Japan, 1 yr maternity leave.
In fact many countries have this policy.
In Europe, the new mum can ask for 4 or 3 days work in office and the remaining hours work at home.
Ai, when HK will have some breakthrough???
Hi there, I'm from Sydney, Australia and gave birth to my daughter there. I would like to clarify that you can buy milk powder in any supermarkets/pharmacies without a doctor certificate. Doctors and midwives here strongly encourage mums to breastfeed, and there are many facilities for breastfeeding mums/parents, e.g. nursing/parent rooms in shopping centres with bottle warmer, microwaves, private feeding rooms, etc. Also larger parking space for parents with scrollers.
There is a baby bonus for each newborn baby (I think it is AU$4000 now). The more babies you give birth to, the more $$ you get from the government!
In Sydney, you are entitled to 2 months paid maternity leave (my company paid 3 months) and you can take up to 1 year leave.
When I returned to work after taking 8 months off, I was working part-time 3 days a week. That's great as I can get work/family balance.
in sydney, not every working mum got paid leave, i do not get any as i work in private company, that mean u can have maternity leave for up to 1 year, but there is no money from your company, only if u use your holiday paid.
