which one s/he is or will be going to?
or which one have you visited so far?
We live in the South Bay and I'll consider a preschool in Saratoga, Los Altos, Cupertino/ Sunnyvale (near Cupertino), Campbell, Los Gatos, West/South San Jose, or Santa Clara.
Since we have moved, it'll be definitely too far for us! Also, the original owner retired and they have a new principal/owner now, so things have been changed a lot (for example, even preschoolers have to wear uniforms).
They have a different location with different owner/principal in Los Altos where is about 15 mins from our home if traffic is good. However, all the teachers are new (either foreigner old lady with an accent or young lady like a fresh grad).
Meanwhile, I'm not sure if Montessori school is right for my little girl as her personality is different from my son.
It seems to me that most preschool teachers are either minority or fresh grad. A lot of them don't even have an undergrad degree but the 12 required ECE units from the community college, or their undergrad degree is from foreign country.
for 4-year-olds, you can check out the private elementary schools which offer junior kindergarten! it's easier to get in since it's the first year at those schools. however, if you're sending him to preschool, the popular ones might not have a spot for him since they usually start from 2 or 3 years old.
however, some good private elementary schools usually have an application deadline from end of Jan. to mid Feb. and the kid will need to be evaluated.
good luck!
Hi, my twins are 16 months old and I'm researching preschool for them. We live in Menlo Park and would like to get some recommendation from other mom. I'm interested in bilingual Chinese program but found there is not many preschool offers bilingual program.
your twins are not even 2 yet so still too young for preschool wor!
I'm not a big fans of billingual schools!
anyway, the most well-known Chinese billingual schools will be Peninsula Int'l school in Palo Alto and Yew Chung Int'l school in Mountain View. however, there are more bilingual preschools in the Cupertino area.
Today it's the deadline of applying a "sounds like perfect" preschool. I just finished the online application but then realized that I still need to finish a 2-page Family Admission Questionnaire which conisists of lots of tough questions such as -
- Explain the role u believe preschool plays in your child's developement.
- What do u expect the preschool teacher's role to be?
Not to mention that a play-date evaluation with the parents is required.
I already felt the "pressure" even being admitted there, so I think I'm not applying! Forget about it!
