nn,
Since I also want to have a cure, I went to ask the pharmist in Mannings today about Eumovate cream & Egocort (which my son used for eczema). He said he would not recommend me (a pregnant woman) to use both. They are steroid cream.
hellomeimei,
In my case, my itchiness really disappeared right after delivery! It's miraculous! My skin remained dark (red & even black) for quite a few months. I was so busy with my new born, I didn't notice when my skin fully recovered as long as it's not itchy anymore. As for scar, there is only 1 left on my calf (behind the leg) because I scratched so hard the scalp fell off before it's due. So my advice is - DO NOT SCRATCH WHEREVER POSSIBLE!!!!! I know it's hard, better use your fingertips instead of fingernails! Sometimes I pat or tap on itchy area. Asking your husband to do it for u is really good - because he doesn't know where u feel itchy - his rubbing is not so harmful!
I recall I used many diff things on my body - olive oil, baby oil, maternity cream(s). DO NOT use bath soap, put 1-2 pieces of brown sugar in a bath of lukewarm water & pat dry your body. Now I am trying a bath lotion called Pinetarsol Solution from Australia. I don't feel itchy right after bath, but a few hours later, usually when I lay in bed. So everybody, hang on!
I could not sleep due to the itchy feeling for 3 nights (straight 72 hours without sleeping...) so, I went to see the "skin specialist" again.
She said we should not take so many showers a day (once a day will be enough) as the shower will remove the "oil" from our skin and make our skin more dry. Use cold/warm water, don't use hot water.
She asked me not to use "soap" or those common shower gel (e.g. Zest) for shower. She suggested "hysiogel Skin Cleanser" which could be bought at normal pharmacy or Waston (I bought it at $85 per bottle). I used this cleanser for 2 nights already, the situation seems improving.
ngkawunkaren,
You remind me of my situation in the first pregnancy "新傷痕蓋舊傷痕"! But since I kept applying cream on my body, I don't have any stretch mark nor scar! That's a good thing.
hellomeimei,
My son was like other children. He had eczema on his face & behind his knee caps, but not too serious.
nn,
Did u take shower more than once a day?! Better not! Don't rub your body in the bath, just wash where u sweat is ok. You must get some sleep. I also wake up everynight because of the itchiness, I always apply body cream again & I can then go back to sleep.
I forget to say, Mothercare's massage cream soothes me the most among other cream & it's rather inexpensive $39/150ml. It may be worth trying.
I have seen a "skin specialist" and my situation got better. If you like, I could pm the doctor's info to you. In the meantime, pls use non-soap cleanser for bathing, the one that my doctor suggested is "hysiogel Skin Cleanser", you could buy it in the pharmacy stores.
