Today is a great day for me and my family. We were BAPTIZED! Here is our story to share.
It all started 18 years ago when I suffered from a chronic disease. I began to explore the meaning of life and went to church. However several years later, I left. I stumbled because most importantly, I was too eager to behave like a holly Christian. That gave me a lot of pressure and conflicts with my friends and family. Other reasons included my weak will and the style of the church and its fellows.
Although I left the church, I maintained a feeling that I would be back one day. Yet I did not know when or how, nor did I have any real intention to do so. Time flied. A few years later, I met my husband and then we got married. As he was not a Christian, we would not of course go to the church.
One year later, I was pregnant. But soon the baby died in the womb. We were upset and mysteriously I became very eager to have a baby. (I did not like children before then.) As I was over 30 and my ovulation was not good, it would be quite difficult if not at all impossible for me to be pregnant again. Helplessly, I prayed and asked God to give me a child. In return, I promised to go back to church. After months of waiting, I finally had a child. But I ate my words. I felt guilty about this but my mind was not strong enough for a change.
A few years later, our child was accepted by a Christian kindergarten. We learnt from the parents there that they sent their children to the Sunday school. Without hesitation, we decided that our child should go too. It meant that MY HUSBAND and I had to go to church too. It was a wonderful place. The holly atmosphere there and the inspiring gospel had greatly lifted our determination to lead a Christian life. Then one day the magic came. We happened to have a chat with a friend. Under her inspiration, we decided to be baptized, again without hesitation.
I would say God's love is complete and his wisdom immeasurable. We did not plan to follow Him. Rather, He patiently guided us to his Kingdom step by step, not just me, but also the whole family. I also deeply understand what is meant by "We are saved, not by our deeds, but God's grace."
