Immigration?

Before I hired my maid locally (without going through any agent), she told me that she was applying for immigrating to Canada. Yesterday, she told me that she could not contact her friend who collected 15,000 from her to do the paper work. She said she had no document or receipt about the application. I want to know whether she is telling lies or not.

Does anyone know whether a maid can immigrate to Canada through employment? If so, what is the application procedure?

Seems that after they have employed there as domestic helper and after a certain years living there, they can then apply to be the resident of Canada.

我個菲傭咪申請到去Canada lor, 激死我，呢頭同佢續咗約，果頭同我辭職。佢都無話比我知佢去Canada，係佢個friend 唔覺意爆出來的，重話佢哋係 College 或 University畢業，又係registered Midwife，又係single，又在港做過幾年，好易申請去Canada，所以請工人如有以上符合，都慎重考慮，我就領嘢。

My maid just did that and left Hong Kong to Canada last week. My maid is OK as she has informed me when she applied for a working visa in Canada as a nurse in a hospital. The salary is three times of HK's and five days work, she has a relative who is working in the same hospital in Canada already, so if you were she, how could you turn down such a GOLDEN CHANCE, right?!

There are agencies in Hong Kong handling these kind of applications for them, however, the handling fee is far too high around HK$30,000.

Anyway, our relationship has been keeping good and we are still keeping in touch with her.

你知唔知那一些agent會幫菲傭搵加拿大的工? 我想知多一些資料. 因我個菲傭做埋呢個月就會去加拿大做. 但佢無話我知, 只係我無意中發現!! 如果d介紹費咁貴, 我怕佢會借錢去申請, 然後走左去就算!! 淨番d貴利比我!! 我有無方法可以預防???我個賓賓只係來香港做左16個月, 雖然係大學生, 但未完約的,點解咁都去到加拿大

Thanks all moms.

I have one more question. My maid is a single mom and she has only high school qualification (definitely not a professional). She has worked in Singapore and Hong Kong though. Will she have a high chance to get accepted?

I just wonder... if she is qualified for the immigration, most Hong Kong people are qualified as well...

Hello COP,

As far as I know that my maid has been processing her application through an agent in Hong Kong which was introduced by her relative in Canada.

The contract was signed for 5 years and my maid has made the down payment of HK$15,000 to the HK agent and the balance will be paid to agent within one year upon the first day she reports to work.

Not only she needs to pay fee to the Hong Kong agent and also the agent in Canada. However, you can guest that they still gohead for the application as their salary will be much higher in Hong Kong and they have the ability to pay the balance payment within one year!

I don't have an idea why your maid go to Canada without finishing the contract with you. My maid insisted to finish the contact as she wanted to have a clean record with her references which the hospital may require.
