I gave fresh milk to my first baby after 1.5 yr and the second one after one year. It is actually better, according to the doctor, for small baby. However, the fresh milk price is more expensive in HK + easy to get spoil.
Powermama,
Yes, the Canadian use cow milk whole fat milk (Homo) feeding the baby after 1 year old. I have been changed the cow milk to my baby (12 mths) for 10 days. It seems much better as she is getting fat.....maybe also the junk foods.
I think I will not use formular anymore when I return to Hong Kong.
Please also share with us which brand of fresh milk is the best in Hong Kong?
I know that many foreigner like to feed their baby by fresh milk instead of formula milk. My hubby told me that it is quite popular in UK and USA, many people feed it to a new born baby. I always wonder that?!!!
Hi,
My daughter(21 Mths) likes the formule(beanstalk) & fresh milk(trappist dairy). So I still give her the formule milk 3-4 times a day, and fresh milk as water cos my daughter doesn't drink the water and not interest to eat. I found that my daughter is more easy to make "poo poo" after she drink the fresh milk.
The pediatricians in US do not recommend cow's milk to babies until after 1 year old. Babies need breastmilk or formula before 1-yr-old, cos cow's milk does not provides all the nutritions found in breastmilk or formula. There're only calicuim, protien and vitamin D in cow's milk.
my son is now 15 months, and has been taking beanstalk which is very suitable for him. he takes 34 oz per day and gets very nice poo poo. but these few weeks i couldn't get even a can of beanstalk from bonjour becos it's out of stock.
then i tried fresh cow milk and very luckily my boy likes it very much. now i buy diary farm "smart milk" which contains DHA. i buy milk from supermarket and normally it costs $6 per box and buy 2 boxes to get 1 free. i.e. $4 per box. it's cheaper than beanstalk and most important thing is, it gets fresh DHA which is better than in formula.
I am living in Canada. My 16.5 months old girl has been drinking fresh milk (Homo) since she was 1 yr old. Everything went fine.
This is good to know which brand in HK is the best because we are going back to HK for 5 months in NOV. Any others good choice besides diary farm "smart milk"????
I do warm up the milk before I gave it to my girl when we are at home. However, I cannot do that if we are out like going to the park or doing some outdoor activities, then I just gave her cold (keep it in the cooler).
I think its little easier for you to buy a small box of milk in HK when you are out, right? We dont have that small pack to buy in here. The smallest pack is 1 Liter.
Oh! my baby will be 1 yr old by SEpt. She doesn't really like formula milk, she has around 12oz per day plus breastmilk before sleep. She doesn't like congee much, but food we eat!!
She is having A+, I'm thinking of changing to another formula milk. Since hearing that you mums give fresh milk to baby after 1, i am thinking of feeding her freshmilk. But do you also feed your baby with formula milk also? Since formula milk contains the necessary elements for growth.
