My baby refused to take formula too since he was 4.5mths old, dropping from 800ml per day to less than 600ml per day.
When he reached 6mths old, when his stomach is strong enough to take solid food, I introduce different taste to his formula in each feeding. It works, his appetite is back.
1st feeding - add a bit of puree of the day
2nd feeding - original favour
3rd feeding - another puree if possible
4th feeding - just repeat one of the above.

Same case for my bb. She started to take rice cereal when she was 5 months old. She now takes 4 meals of rice cereal or congee everyday. However, she doesn't eat much and she is too skiny (19lbs)

yes, I think the whole concept is to make the formula more tasteful and interesting. Just imagine if we were our baby, how boring it would be if we were taking the same formula everyday for almost half a year.
When my baby reached 4.5mths old, his doctor said I could try to put him in high chair and feed him, cos he might not be happy for us to hold him too tight when feeding. I tried and it worked well, he drank more than b4.
So, sometimes we just have to step in our baby's shoes and think about it.
