I hard from a friend that the regulations of applying a passport in Hong Kong has changed, so I wonder if there's any US mom has encountered this case.
My friend said seems like a year or so ago, the hong kong government has changed the regulations on kids with duo nationality getting a hong kong passport. She said kids are now only be able to get either Hong Kong passport or passport of another nations. She said that if a child is born in hong kong, they are grounded with a HKID and HK passport, but that will also mean the child will not be able to get a passport of another nation. But i checked with the immigration department of hong kong, it doesn't said the child can't get a passport of another nation, it just said that passport will only be considered as a travel document while he or she is in hong kong or any parts of china.
My son is born in Hong Kong, I am a permanent resident of hong kong, my boyfriend(we are not married yet) is American citizen staying in hong kong with a working visa. So i wonder if our son will be able to get both the hk passport and the us passport? And will there be any difficulties afterward if we are moving back to the usa if we still want to keep the hong kong passport?
