My husband is working in a US based company in HK. Now, their LA branch can offer a post to him and he really want to try. My questions are:
1. We are Canadian passport holders, can he work in US?
2. If he can stay in LA and work, can my son and I move there also?
3. Can I apply job in LA too?
4. My son is 2.5 yrs old, can he go to nusery in LA? Can he study in public school?
the following info is povided at the best of my knowledge, please counter check with us consulate :
1. yes, he can work in the states. for canadians, you just need a employment letter and a 1yr temp work visa, which needs to be renewed every yr, can be issued at the borders. since you are entering the states from hk, i am not sure if the la immigration can issue the visa on the site. please check it with us consulate in hk.
2. yes, you and your son can follow him as dependents.
3. if you come to the states as dependent, you cannot work. but if you find a job, you can travel to canada and re-enter the states, then at the border immigration counter, they will issue you the 1 yr temp work visa. then you can work. you always need a visa/permit to work in the states.
4. your son can go to nursery, all nursery is private here. public school starts at kindergarten. um... you have residency in the states but you are not a premanent resident, i dont know if your son can study in public school or not.
