Introduction
Established in 1984, the General Eye and Low Vision Centre is one of the service departments operated by the Hong Kong Society for the Blind. A branch of the Centre, General Eye and Low Vision Clinic, was set up in Tuen Mun in 1998. They provide high quality medical eye care and low vision services to the general public and the visually impaired.
Objectives
To provide comprehensive ophthalmological and optometrical services to prevent blindness through early detection and treatment of eye diseases, and an optometrical low vision service to enhance the residual vision of the visually impaired.
Target Group
People of different ages, including children, students, adults and those who are suffering from visual disorders and visual impairment.

8. Vision Screening by mobile Vision Screening Bus (VSB)

Fee Charges
The Centre charges reasonable fees for consultation, medication and surgeries. These fees are much lower than those charged by a private clinic. Recipients of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance can receive partial or full subsidies for eye examinations, medications, surgeries, eye glasses and low vision devices.

My son went for his first opthal test in Mar 2003, when he was 4y2m, at the PolyU Optom Clinic.
Then in Aug 2004 and Aug 2005 I took him to the HKSB's clinic instead.
