my gal is 21m old, she has been sick since early nov too, sneeze and running nose (on & off) until now, she also allergic to cold weather or polluted enviornment, besides Singulair, she's also taking Zyrtec and Seretide (2 puffs at nite) to control her sensitive nose and airways!
i heard Singulair has no side effect, so it's pretty safe for baby lah, no worry!
btw, how old is yr child? do u think of dairy products may casue yr child to have sensitive nose? i'm thinking to give her rice or oat milk but she got diarrhea lately so i may try when she's recovered!
Hi Doris,
oh, ya! she's a rice lover and doesn't like congee at all so i've to give her rice even she's on diarrhea!
one question just comes up in my mind that since yr boy is 32m old, are you giving him Singulair in tablet form or powder form? i ask coz my gal is taking powder form that dr. used to ask if she can chew? so, wonder if Singulair tablet is easy to chew? i may change to tablet form, it's easier to feed her!
My son takes Singalair tablets. It is oval in shape and has a sweet taste. My son just treated it as a candy and he would just swallow it without chewing sometimes.
How about the one in powder form? Do you need to add the powder to water before feeding?
Hi Doris,
powder form cannot dissolve with water, must put a bit by bit into her solid food when it's cold, eg rice, noodle....that's why i feel so troublesome and would like to change to tablet form!
wow, yr son can just swallow it, what a good boy! humm....i may try tablet next time then....tks for telling me! btw, how's yr son's nose? how long have u been taking Singulair? u see any improvement?
Actually, the Singulair tablets have quite slippery surface. It is also small enough to swallow. I guess your daughter can also do it. However, it's quite expensive. The doctor charged me $11.5 per tablet. May I know the cost for powder form?
My son has been taking this medicine for two months. However, I didn't see any marked improvement on his nose. I still have to clear his nose almost every night. How about your daughter?
Hi Doris,
oh, i thought tablet form will be cheaper? powder form is abt the same price as tablet! very expensive, right? and this is not the first time, my gal has been taking it, this is her 2nd time to consume Singulair for abt one month already, and so far so good, i feel like she sneezes less in the morning then end up less running nose too, but she still sneezes when somethings trigger her to but less often i would say!
but she's not only taking Singulair, she also has a oral medicine for sensitive nose called "Zytrec" and inhaler at nite to prevent and control being infected, so i'm not sure if Singulair alone will help! anyway, did u ask yr dr why it isn't improved since yr son has been taking it for 2months already?
My son's doctor asked me to let him take the medicine throughout the whole winter. Everytime when my son has got a cold or a flu, his bronchi will be in trouble. The medicine was taken as a preventive measures instead of curing.
