I am used to work for a US company on contractual freelance basis and all pieces are submitted via e-mail and got paid by checks through ordinary. Recently, I have been offered a contract, attaching a
W-9 form.
So my question is what is the purpose of this W-9 form, which I have not been required to fill in before? And, what practical effects it would bring?
If you are an independent contractor, you may get a w9 form to fill out. This form is a formal way for a company to request your tax identification number. If you don't own a company, you should provide your ss#.
