Loverlymama,
My daughter is also 911 baby. But she is a thin girl !
My daughter can only recognise A, C & O. She seems don't have interest in alphabet. I teach her many times but she still can't remember.
I haven't taught her the numbers yet.
Now she can speak lot of words (Chinese and English) and uncompleted sentence (Chinese).
English words she can say: cup, spoon, car, cat, dog, duck, cake, house, book, happy, jump, eat, walk, clap, head, hand, toe, chair, bowl, no, yes, mouse, run, face, nose, bear, flower, CD, pig, sleep, good night, apple, stop, box, shoes, ear, balloon, baby, hat, red, blue, yellow, green, star .... She learns from Einstein DVD and Disney DVD and card machine.
I don't (and no one) speak English with her because I am afraid she will confuse the language. However, when I speak Chinese, she speaks the English word of that Chinese word.
I asked "Are you happy (in Chinese)?" She answered "Happy! (in English)"
I said "Sleep early (in Chinese)." She said "Good Night."
These make me smile.
My daughter can only speak a few English words a month ago. Her language (both Chinese and English) suddenly have a big progress within this month. So, we should continue to teach teach teach, practise, practise, practise.
Thank you for saying my daughter 叻 . It's all because of training. Different baby is good in different area. My daughter is better at talking and sleeping, other things like eating :-( .
My daughter sometimes talks with me a very very long sentence (not Chinese and not English), I totally don't know what she says. I don't want to discourage her and pretend I understand and say "yes, yes .." , she will be happy .
Now she knows little English words but sometimes cannot speak it well. When I listen to her, I need to figure out whether she says Chinese or English.
