Hi cowboymama,

Please do not take the unsuccessful results as a rejection. I think children playing Grade 5 at age 5 must be very smart and musical, i.e. he should have the quality that APA wants. He is probably too young and the teachers may prefer older kids who can understand and benefit more in the group class.

I also know a child playing Grade 5 at age 5 but only admitted in the third application, after changing teacher. Many of the applicants are learning with very good teachers, and maybe even their parents are highly proficient in the instrument. The audition only requires mastering of two songs which will not be difficult with a good teacher. The successful applicants may not be as smart as your son.

Let your son know that he may be too young for admission and he should try again next year. If there is a chance, I will like to hear him play too.

I have been thinking about it because my son is still in exam and I should be staying home to cheer him up in revision !!

我今朝check完信箱,我25號要去音統考試早上,咁我老公又係果區,可能同老公要飯/街陣..咁可能要趕返黎....我要問埋我老公25果日係邊先........

I learnt that one local famous pianist Eric Fung馮景禧 admitted to APA when he was 11 years old. And his parents were not musicians nor were Colleen Lee's parents.

Hi gogochurch & JP,

哈哈!囝囝己經八歲多了,讀P.2. 無論如何,很多謝你們的鼓勵. :lol: :lol:他選曲不知有否問題,因他其中一首曲是,據鋼琴老師說約6級程度(蕭邦的Mazurka in B flat Op.7 No.1),他P.1 (Nov 2004) 時曾彈過參加公開比賽,但當年彈得不好,現在進步多了,但相信仍有很多不足. 囝囝的鋼琴老師算不錯,但不算很…,若一路學上去,可能可以去的境界很有限. 眼見他有興趣和有些少潛質,故在想何時該換老師 and where to find a good teacher?
