Today ,I go to TAK X agency to interview some local finished maids.All of them cannot contact their ex-employers as many excuse.If I cannot contact their ex-exployer,I won't consider them.Because I think the maids are bad as they have no confidence to let me ask their employer.Now, I think my present maid is not so bad anymore .In the past, I don't satisfy her .But now,she is better than the others.Interview a maid is time consuming and tired.Also,I don't want employ oversea maids as it is "kat shan mai cow".Anyone have some sharing?
Actually I'm looking for a maid as well, one of my helper is leaving because she sometimes argue with me and actually she wants to look for a western family for more freedom, like stay overnight outside. BUt there is no local maid wants to work as we have 2 helpers. Some experience bunbun need us to pay more. I think half job pay more and you have no special skills. At least my leaving maid's English is good and she taught my kids phonics.

I am also having major headache as I need to hire one more maid after the second baby arrives, and was thinking of asking my current maid to find me the new one so that at least they will get along (hopefully). Problem is my current maid is not really that good when it comes to cookingand housework, and sometimes she would use my personal stuff, so if I have to reply on her to train a new maid from the Phil (and someone she is close to) then I don't think the new one can get to be any good either. But if I hire another finished contract maid in HK then will run into the problem you mentioned. I just don't know what to do and time is running out!
Few months ago, i have interviewed one local maid, she was introduced by my sister's maid. However, she was too smart, she interviewed with few employers. When i called her to confirm the working date, she switched off her phone and finally my sister's maid said that she chose a single man to work with ( less workload) .
i currently asked an agency for local maid, but they all said local maid is not good.
Me too. I planned to change a new maid since beginning of this year (my current maid joined us in Nov 06 and I found her not suitable for taking care of the young kid as she hlack of caring, inpatient, irresponsible, and cannot predict the dangerous that will harm to my son). I started to interview maids through varies agencies since then, I preferred the local maid who finished contract as I am a working mom and have no time to train up a brand-new-maid. All the agencies already gave me the warnings when I placed the order to them and they all have the same comments that the local maids are not easy to handle and more tricky.
Finally, they all made me disappointed as they only concern about the day off, your location. Although I found 2 of them met with my basic expectation, but one of them prefer to work in TST even though I promised to increase her salary by few hundreds, she explained that it's closer to her church (don't know they come to hkg for the purpose of earning monies or going to church), the other one requested to day off on Sunday and Statutory Holiday, no flexibility, she also explained that she need to serve in the church.
So, I understand why their country is so poor as the quality of their citizens is really poor.

You should not 100% believe what the agencies tell you as they make a much higher agency fee from the maid if the maid is hired from overseas rather than those ones that are already working in HK.
