i will say either Graco or Evenflo. And you can get it in
" Baby r us" anywhere. so you dunt need to buy in HK la, buy in US. I think US is more style..( i guess)

How much does your baby weight? Is he/she tall? Since your baby is 9 months already, you may just get a convertible seat then. Depends on the size of your car and your budget (if any), there are different choices.

Lower-end model cost from $40s+ and high end model is around $300. I have a Cosco Serena convertible seat in one car and a Britax Decathlon seat in another car. The former one was $40s from Walmart and the later one was $230s from an online store (original price was $280-290). My son is fine sitting in both seat and the Britax one has much more padding and seems more comfortable. The Decathlon model can fit a taller and heavier kid compare to the Cosco one. So, I would expect the Decathlon can last for a longer time.

Research says:

Best (/better) seat: Britax Roundabout or the popular Britax Marathon/Decathlon/Boulevard with higher limit on the weight and height

Mid-range seat that has good-review: The Fisher-Price Voyage was from the same manufacturer of the Britax and cost less than the Britax. Evenflo Triumph5 seems to be good as well (from what I heard) but the seat maybe wider than some others. You need to check the fitting in some smaller car (at least when I tried that seat rear-facing in my 2-door sport car, it didn't fit well).


Basic seat: Graco ComfortSport etc

There are also those 3-in-1 seat as well depends on your need.

In short, I would recommend the Britax Decathlon or simliar type. (If I choose again, I would have bought the Britax Bloulevard instead for the side wing... more protection and when baby sleep, the side wing can use as a "pillow".)

You can try the seat from Babies R us/Toys R us etc first and see how it fits your car and your baby. For my local Babies R Us store, I can borrow their floor model carseat and try it in my car and then return the seat when I am done (they hold my ID card while I was testing the seat). BRU has 90 days return so you may also buy the seat and try it first and return it if it doesn't fit. Target also has good return policy. I got a Graco Comfort Sport seat from Target, tried it in the car, didn't fit, and I returned it without any hassle.

I also vote for Britax. My son has 2 Britax Roundabout and 1 Britax Advantage (we put 1 in each car and 1 for spare to save time for strapping it to the car each time). My daughter who is 8 months old is using Graco Snugride (my son used it before). We have no doubt to Britax, safe and comfortable. Graco is good but infant carseat always have a problem when you put it rear-facing - it would move sideway, I put a towel underneath the carseat and it won't move about then.

One thing to reminder you - when you land, remember to ask the person who is going to pick you up to bring along a carseat. You son is 9 months old, he needs an infant carseat rear-facing. If you are planning to take Shuttle bus, you have to bring along your own carseat. Otherwise, any shuttle bus or taxi will refuse to take you. It's by law that infants and kids under certain height and weight have to be in carseat for safety issue.

I vote for Britax Roundabout, Gabriel is sitting on it everyday.. very comfortable..
same as bunnymonkey, I got those 2 brands carseats in my 2 car.
I will also suggest you, when you land, go to babiesrus to have a good "test drive" before you buy it in the store or online.

we have a Britax Marathon since my son was 1. there's one thing that i don't like - it's kinda dangerous that my son was able to unbuckle the seatbelt when he was around 2 1/2.
then we got another one - Cosco convertible - for under $200 which is also not bad and my son won't be able to unbuckle it maybe until he's 4.

both of my sons are using britax blvd, but i think decathon or roundabout is better cus it has more seat space. my older boy is a skinny one(3yr3mo old/ 31lb) and he always says he's not comfy sitting in the carseat, always says it's 好迫 and we hv to take out the extra cusion they have..
so we're now looking for a booster for him to use, and use the britax one as a spare one in my hubby's car.

What would you recommend for booster seat??

we have changed our plan using the booster seat as a spare one, for daddy dropping him off to school and for school field trips, after researching booster seat safty info online.
ryan has used the new booster seat for a week, he likes it very much and he is willing to get on to the seat himself...
it's a battle putting him on his blvd carseat everytime.. lots of yellings and lots of cryings.. but it's more safty..
