Only compared the performance of TV
Found Philips 42PF9945 (build-in tuner, below $30K and have a free set of DVD+5.1speakers) got the best performane (at that shop). The image is more clean and sharp.
The sales said its build-in TV turner is the best.
Then I went to another shop to compare the DVD image.. Philipes is also not too bad (for the grade of 853-580 ). However, when close-up the moving water, found whole display are changed to many tine sqaures.. (like VCD).. No sure the setting problem or what..
Need to further 'investigate' it before making decision...
About maintenance fee(行保養), it is really an issue, as it is talking about 2-3K per year...
Samsung got 5 years 行保養, And Philip got 2 years
As I am looking for 42", so Plasma is only my choice.
PS : Changing from CRT TV to Plasma, just like changing from film camera to DC.
ie spending much more money but getting lower quality.. are we stepping backward!??
2. Size,
as Plasma and LCD are designed for 16:9, watching TV need either zoom in a bit or using 4:3.
Using 4:3 will results in smaller screen.(eg 37" LCD, 4:3 is less than 29")
Also, it is thiner, so the screen is a bit far away
3. Resolution, normal is 853x480,
higher one 1024x1024(select it if you always connect your PC to it, and prepare for HDTV, which might be available 2 years later..)
4. View angle, if you want to see it from dinning room, then need to consider the view angle.
last but not the least - Price! LCD is still much more expensive then Plasma..
I also will wait for another 1-2 month then to make the decision..
my target below $30K for 1024x1024 plasma (with DVI input)
As now my TV is sitting on a hi-fi rack, which might not be strong enough to defence the attacks of my baby, who will be able to climb in next 1-2months..
