LCD Monitor: Out of Range?

My friend has given me an old computer with windows 2000. When I connected it to my LCD monitor (ComeMon 15"), the screen showed "out of range" with black background and no response. However, when I connected it to the other LCD monitor (Philips 17"), it works properly. Do anybody know why?

how old of yr computer...........
my computer is used over 4/5 years, using windows xp now.......& connect to LCD mon. is ok.......1-2 years.....

if it is too old , it may not be worked......
