my agent tells me not to let her go outside on day off but pay her instead. They had agreed with the maids on this and if I let her go out similar to bun bun, there is no guarantee that the maid is good. Wait and see when the maid reports duty.
I feel uneasy of not letting them go out. It is very boring if all the time at house and without the chance to go out and relax.
My agent told me the same - 2 days per month. My maid insisted to have leave on Sunday only and refused to OT work. You know, sometime we want to take rest on holiday so that my 印印 can take care BB on our behalf.
Tell me how to do, I don't want her to leave on Sunday only.
It seems that you are not update on this, the current salary is $3270 and not $3670 but there is an addition of $400 payable for tax. Also, it is legal if you pay your maid on day off and ask her to do work of course this is subject to their agreement and most of them will agree except for some bun bun that work here for a long time and they are 'keen' on other things(?!). As for statutory leave, of course they are entitle to but not necessarily on the same day. There are some employers who still have to work on statutory hoildays and for that sort of cases, they have to arrange other days for the maid to take compensation leave, this is also allowed under ordinance provided you give them enough notice and let her have compensation leave in time. Lastly, it is illegal for domestic helper to have part time job and do something else for money other than the purpose of the contract, ie they are employed to serve the family for being a domestic helper. However, on weekends, I saw many of them doing trading in central, causeway bay and some even doing part time maids for other families, I tempted to report these sorts of cases to the immigration( if i were younger and have energy to do so.) I believe all moms in BK are observors of rules and regulations and having read thro' various issues in this topic, they are the 'victims' of the foreign domestic helper arrangements.
