i have been there last dec, i think it's worth to go, the inside is similar to HK science museum, with lots of display and simple games, but there is an outdoor area to play with water.
So bring along with the swim suit for the kids. and play with the water after 4pm when the sun light is not too strong. It closes at 6pm
We have spend whole day there from 10am to 6pm with 2 kids aged 5 and 3. There is a restaurant inside and McDonald outside.
Thanks for your fruitful information. My little boy is a science fans and he is so eager to go there (he will visit the science museum in every country we visit). In fact, this is the 2nd time we viist Singapore and we have been to the Zoo, Garden by the Bay in our last visit and thus wanna consider something new and worthy for visit. It seems that the Science Ctr might be a good choice.

Yes, same here, i would bring my kid to the science museum in every country we visit.
By the way, i am planning to go to singapore again this Aug, and i did not visit the zoo and garden by the bay last time.
May i ask how did you get to the zoo from the city center?
Also, did you join the night safari? How was it?
Btw, we didn't have enough time to visit the other exhibition next to the science museum in singapore, you can try that, seems have the ice hall and something else, you can search the web and have a look first.
I went to the Zoo by taxi from the city centre and it should not be too expensive as I remembered.
I didn't go to the night safari but I heard somebody saying that it's too dark inside and so could not see the animals clearly. Maybe, the Zoo is better than the night safari if you have to choose one.
If you are inteseted in Garden by the Bay, remember to bring a swimming suit for your kids since there is a water zone for the kids and also a changing room. Kids must love playing with water.

By the way, i have visited the Vivo City last time, there is also a small outdoor playground which children can play water there, we stayed there for 3 hours and the is a small boat riding activity as well. If you haven't been there, you can also go. I will go again in August.
Unless you and your kids both love flowers and greenhouse very much, it might be a bit long to stay in the Garden for a whole day. Actually, the light show is quite beautiful and it's worthwhile to go up to the skywalk. I think 3-4 hrs should be enough.
I did go to Vivo City last time. I can say for certain that the water zone in the Garden by the Bay is far more interesting than the one in Vivo City.
