I will give $100 to my maid daily and ask her to buy things from Park'N only. She is not allowed to bring my baby to wet market! She will give me the changes and receipts everyday. :-P
Yes, you must ask your maid to give you all receipts. If there is no receipt, you must ask her to list all the shopping items with individual breakdown.
Money is a great temptation for all maids! (and for all of us!)

Do we need to ask her for the receipt?
If no receipt, need her to list all the details on a paper?
Is your maid Indonesia I think so !!I got a stubid Indonsia Maid for 2 weeks. My husband afraid her no money and give her $100 for emergency. One afternoon she call me no money to take MTR to pick up my son I ask her where is the $100. She told me $40 to buy a pair of new shoe $40 long distance call to her father and $20 to buy her food ???She don't understand what is the meaning of emergency just think that it's her pocket money ???
I suggest you don't give her emergency money.
If emergency ask her to borrow from the caretaker or neighbour. Because if they didn't keep the emergency money for emergency use then how can they handle emergency case independantly ???
I suggest you give 2 to 3 days first don't give too much and MUST write down the details in a book. Give them some DUTIES to do and always check the book. It is your duties !!!! Don't be lazy !!!! During checking you can small & warm talk to her and also let her know you understand the market price. Like me although I don't like to market, I always go to buy something Sat afternoon or Sunday !!!!
thank you everyone for your valuable suggestion, i decided to give her money on daily basis and ask her for receipe everytime she came back. i hope she is a honest and good one.
bk is actually a good site where i can find lots of valuable info. thank you all.
