Any BK members has visited this park before in x'mas, 愛寶樂園度假村 (Everland), did you stay at their hostel: Cabin旅館 and Hillside旅館. Any comments from your end? I have access the web site, would like to seek some "real experience".
I have been to Everland with my family Jan this year. To my surprise, there were very few visitors perhaps because of the cold weather. When we got to the entrance there were no one there that we thought we had gone to the wrong place! We didn't have to queue for most games. Some facilities were closed in winter. But still a very good experience for us. I think it is even better than Lotte World. There is an artificial ski site there. I did not stay at the hotel there (I did not know there is a hotel there). The transporation is not convenient however. There are some bus route from Seoul and it takes about 1 to 2 hours.
It was so great to receive your message. As I learned from their web site, it has outdoor park inclusive of some game, do you think it can spend two to three days in this park? My travel agent told me most of the people in HK will go the Park with tour, not much people will go their by their own.
I have been to Everland, Seoul for about five times before.
In front of its main entrance, on the left is the entrance of the amusement park and on the right is the entrance of the swimming/ski pools. The total area of both the amusement park and the swimming pools is much more smaller than the Ocean Park in Hong Kong (About 1/4). I wonder how can you spend 2-3 days there. Remember, you can't image that it is another Disneyland!!
For most of the tours from Hong Kong, the guide usually drops the clients at Everland at about 9am in the morning and ask them to enjoy the amusement park and the swimming themselves for the whole day. Later the guide will take them back at about 5:30pm, however, most of the clients will wait at the gathering point at before five!!
For my sugguestion, you better book the Lotte Hotel which at the city heart of Seoul as the hotel is just next to the Lotte World Amusement park and the Lotte Department Store. You can enjoy both the amusement park and the shopping. Moreover, you can save more on transportation.
I think the Everland Resort is more suitable for the Local Korean families which wish to have countryside life on weekends!!
I intend to stay in the Lotte World for three days, and than will go to Everland for another 2 to 3 days. I would like to let my daughter to try the feeling of "snow", that's why I plan to stay in Everland for 2 or 3 days. In the travel guide book, the description is very attractive, I also access the web site, it described that the park inclusive of game, swimming pool, in winter, there are also some training program, it seems very exciting, but you know we cannot trust it because my experience told me that sometimes the introduction in the travel guide book is not the truth. I have sent fax and emial to Everland for enquiry, but no feedback. Maybe I have to change my mind to stay in somewhere.
健健媽咪, you are very experience in travel to Korea, can you give me some advice, beside Lotte World, which park is suit for kid to stay and enjoy to play the "snow". I have went to Korean for one time only which is almost 10 years ago. And I will not join the tour, that's why I need to check more information in advance. I will go to Korea in x'mas this year and stay for 5 to 6 days.
Children will be happy to go to Everland. There are many games for them. To adults the games may seem naive and trivial. But children will definitely enjoy them. If you like, there are some exiting games for adults as well. There are other facilities not found in other amusement park, like you can ride a bus to a safari. And children can be in close contact with small animals. It is certainly worth a day's visit.
Since I will go to the park in X'mas, so I plan to arrange one day for the outdoor park and half day for play in the snow. As I learned from the travel guide, the park has parade in the evening. I think most of the tour gourp go the park in the day time only, that's why not much HK people aware of it.
Of sure, I will also go to the Lotte World since my objective is to let my daughter to enjoy her holiday, it doesn't matter that the game of the park is naive.
Did you know how to go to Everland from Lotte World.
When I went to Everland this Jan, the park closed at 6:30. So I am not sure if there is a parade at evening. You can take bus 1500 at exit 13 at Seoul National University of Education MTR station. It is not a bus terminal but just a bus stop. I took another bus route to return from Everland to Yangjae MTR station. This route seems faster. But I suggest you ask the hotel the best way to go there.
I have lived in Hillside Hostel in Dec 02. I don't think they ever have much non-korean live there and how to reserve a room is a problem. I think we were the only foreigner live in that hostel at that time, but we have a korean friend help us to make the reservation and paid the deposit in Korea. By the way, the hostel has shuttle bus to Everland by schedule time/by demand. It takes about 5 minutes to the park. However, to communicate them with English is really not easy. You can also purchase your ticket to Everland at the hostel.
We had stayed 2 nights at Hillside Hostel and 2 nights at COEX-inter contential hotel. We had booked an english speaking door-to-door airport van thru internet. The van picked us up at the airport when we arrive, took us to Hillside Hostel, picked us up two days later at Hillside and took us to COEX-inter continential hotel, at last picked us up at the COEX hotel and took us to the airport. There were 3 trips in total, cost us 240,000 WON. Hope it helps!
Yes, your information is a great help to me. Thank you very much for your sharing, and also the information provided from BK's mammy, it really light me on a proper way.
Ruby, how was your trip to Everland in 2002, you spent 2 days in the Hillside Hostel, any comments about the hostel? You was able to spent two days in the park for the games and sight seeing? Can you also let me know how to book the car from the aiport to the hotel.
The hostel is actually pretty good, very Korean style. There is a mini-mart, you can purchase some daily stuff, snack, instant noodles, can food exactly. There is also a nice common kitchen, with several stoves. Many Korean family cook their dinner there. The hostel only provide "Korean style" breakfast, means rice, soup, kimchee and seaweed, which is not our taste of food.
We lived in an one bedroom with private bathroom. The floor is all heated, they call it "Ondor", forget how to spell it. Eventhough there is a double bed in the bedroom, we did not use it at all. We all sleep on the floor in the living room, like Japanese, because it is warm and more fun!
We purchase a pass from the hostel. We spent one and a half day in the park and half day in the Carribean Bay. We did not take any ride in the American Adventure because our kids are small, but we almost played all the other rides for kids. There was no night prarade during our stay but we saw a afternoon prarade. It's OK, but don't expect it as great as Disneyland.
We book our car by this website :
AirportHelp Centre Int'l.
www.airhelp.co.kr
They propose US$100 from airport to Everland. Then we bargain US$200 for our 3 trips in total and they accepted. The driver can speak a little English and he is nice.
Time's up, talk to you later, if you want to know more.
Thank you so much for your information, it really a great help to me. I will try to book the hotel at my end. I already trouble you a lot, just in case need help from you, will let you know.
Finally, I find the contact person in Everland and booked the hotel rooms for two nights,
