I have been reading all about breastfeeding and learnt a lot from here. Thank you all moms so much.
I have been breastfeeding, uptill now, nearly 6 months. It's really happy, and I am proud of myself. ^_^
The worst thing about my breastfeeding was, my little boy took me as a pacifier. Especially before nite time sleeping. He could simply cry for 2-3 hours until I put him on my breasts (even after a whole bottle of 200ml milk!).
Since I am getting back to work and I will quit breastfeeding soon, I have taken a sleep training for my boy. It works for him.
Now, he doesn't need my breasts + no more rocking. He can fall asleep all by himself on his bed.
He cried for 1 hour on the first nite, 40 mins on the second nite and 30 mins on the third nite and 10 mins on the forth nite. Now, he can get to sleep by himself. It makes life so much easier for us and most importantly, he sleeps much earlier now, instead of keep sucking for around an hour on me. I followed the book titled " Solve your child's sleep problem" (by Dr. Richard Ferber). It has a time-table for you to follow how to do the sleep training:
Not just let your baby cry, but you have to follow the time to go inside to check on your baby at the following time interval:
Day 1: first check: 5 mins, second check: 10 mins, third check: 15 mins... and afterwards, every 15 mins.
Day 2: first check: 10 mins, second check: 15 mins, third check: 20 mins,... afterwards , every 20 mins.
Day 3: first check 15 mins... so on..
it guaranteens you, within 7 days, your baby will learn how to sleep by itself.
* Each time you go in to your child, spend only 2-3 mins to check on him/her. Not intending to stop him from crying, but to make sure everything is ok with him. Absolutely NO eye contact with your baby when you go in.
I have used the same programme to train my daughter when she was 16 months old.She cried for 2 nites only. on the third nite, she cried for 5 mins only. She used to be rocked for 1 hour to sleep. but after the training, i just need to give her one good nite kiss and then i could walk out of her room.
it's somehow cruel to train my little boy as he is just 5 months old...but, i dont' want to rock him to sleep and i don't want to be his pacifier.
Now, he sleeps more soundly and sleeps much more. I am really happy. Just want to share this method with you all. ^_^
of course, there are lots of concerns before taking the program. And most importantly, you need to be very well-prepared and very firm when starting it. Good luck!
Should I use your menthod only at night time, as I was working day time, and aunt take care my baby after I arrive home. Please advise and mentioned what I need to concern before start this program.

Dear all,
I have been reading all about breastfeeding and learnt a lot from here. Thank you all moms so much.
I have been breastfeeding, uptill now, nearly 6 months. It's really happy, and I am prou ...
yes, me too. i let him sleep by himself at nite only. for the day time, my maid still carry him to sleep. but she said after the training, baby falls asleep much faster. just pat him for a few minutes only. and it's much easier to put him down. sometimes, he wakes up and he manages to fall back to sleep himself.
well, make sure you are firm enough to start the training. do not give me even when you hear your baby crying so seriously. it will surely break your heart. but knowing that your baby will have better sleep quality later, it's worthy.
-be expected the whole family will have to sleep late that night.
- make sure your baby's tummy is full enough to get to sleep, but also make sure your baby "burp" already. (ensure that he will not vomit after crying)
- remove all dangerous thing from his bed, make sure he will not hv suffocate hazard
...so on....
