Your friend Betty don't need to wait for her company to organize some outdoor activities. She can co-ordinate some outdoor activities and ask every participant to pay on their own.
My colleagues always do the same, and the response were quite well. My company encourage those self-serve activities. We can even organize the events through my company to get some bargain price.....
