我 BB , Bernadette, 08年係美國出世
而我一家會系 8 月中返 HK 3 個星期，諗住幫 BB 拎 HKID，請問程序 & 現在有什麼要做。

from what i understand, baby can get hkid when she is 11 year old ONLY IF she has lived in hk for 7 consecutive years by that time.

when we went to hk 2 months ago (baby was 10 months old) she was only allowed to stay for 90 days.

what we can do, as overseas moms with 3 stars on hkid, is to apply for the right to stay for baby. it doesn't mean that they'll have the hkid when they turn 11, but they can stay longer than 90 days when we go back.

Whether yr baby can get HKID, it's totally depending on your immigration status in US. HK immigration dept. will review all the cases, you need to prove your baby was born when you / your hubby are citizen of HK (apart from 3 stars, you are not supposed to be citizen of other countries). My baby was born 2008, she got her HKID in last summer becoz we proved that we are holding working visas in US only.

If you/your hubby are green card holder or citizen of US, then you need to apply "rights of abode" for yr baby first, so that baby can stay HK more than 3 months. (US passport holder can travel to HK NOT longer than 90 days - 3months only.)

After staying 7 yrs in HK, then he/ she is eligible to apply for permanent ID.

We hold J1 and J2 (scholar) visa, I think Bernadette can get HKID.
